I have a surface pro i5 8gb ram and use up to 20 devices and effects with no performance issues (no VSTs or external programs). Are the VSTs the cause of the performance issues?

Thanks for the tips! What determines a better EQ or compressor over another? What makes the extensions included in the rig different from the stock modules? There are multiple compressors and eq devices and also inside some of the instruments. When does adding more become redundent?

I agree. Reason 10 is absolutely amazing. I upgraded from Reason 3.0 and I felt overwhelmed with the new features - recording audio, VST integration, new mixer, new sound modules, EQ visualizations, and so much more.
