Re: Anyone developing a mixer?

To be honest, it looks terrible to me. Sorry, but I would not buy it, even I like the idea of a new mixer. Thanks for being honest, but that is not how it is going to finally look :) Not the final colors Not the final Knobs Not the final buttons (by far) Not the final slider Not the final VU meters

Re: Anyone developing a mixer?

Here is a quickly thrown together 3U version. I didnt put much effort in since it is probably gonna change so much anyway Mostly got rid of the smaller knobs and made a bit more room I will start on the signal routing now since all the UI elements I will need are there (except maybe PAN width knobs ...

Re: Anyone developing a mixer?

Is it possible to make it into a modular system which connects to each other device without having to worry about cramming all needed features together? It seems your mockup would work fine but adding more would make it too small for the GUI. Maybe if it had several connecting devices that would wo...

It seems to me that it is more about the wanted/needed functionality, so why try to cram it all into 2U?

Seems like a classic case of form over function.
maybe 3U, which is still less than 4U :)
I will try it

Here is a mockup I just made, to see if vertical aligning makes more room, but it's the same, too cramped. I replicated your button sizes, but they are honestly too small.

Well done sir, though you never said anything bad to me, I think being able to admit your faults in a public forum is admirable.

Re: Anyone developing a mixer?

Anyway here is my final feature list for the next Mixer, I know it wont please everyone, but the things I have missed will be included in a subsequent project I promise. Tentative name: MIX82 Size: 4RU Channels: 8 RETURNS: 8 (!) Channel AUX: 8 (2 with pre-fader buttons) Channel level (+10dB max, not...

Re: Anyone developing a mixer?

This is all personal taste/preference ofcourse, but I think that MIX88 works because it's much bigger and there's a clear line of knobs per channel. On a smaller device with a bunch of knobs bunched together, I think colour variation is much more desirable for readability. Any-who, happy to check i...

Re: Anyone developing a mixer?

I know it's probably all still just placeholder stuff but please keep some sort of visual difference for the knobs, like your previous mockup shown at top. It's so much easier to use than a bunch of knobs all looking the same (as your latest mockups are looking) Yeah they are pictures of the Mixer ...

Re: Anyone developing a mixer?

Yes, the returns make sense, because they have a lower delay. The mixer input delay depends on the audio buffer settings. AFAIK. Eep... this might not be doable for 3rd party devs... everything is buffered from input to output for us, so if Reason's Mixers can do it with no latency it doesn't neces...

Editable Labels

Hi All, just a quick question.
Are editable labels like the ones on the Line mixer channels a DIY custom UI thing or is there a scripting object for them?

Re: Anyone developing a mixer?

Yeah. No need to make it extra small. When I mix a sound, I am in mixing mode and working on the mixer only. Tbh, just a Reason mixer with at least 2 more sends. I don't really need the EQ. Editable labels would be nice.. do in fact, just a update of the mixer. But sure what others need. 4 sends ar...

Yes. Would be great to have at least 6 sends with returns of the option to die them too the mixer and creat feedback loops or FX mixing.
10 channels in sum would be nice.
So like this?

The send channels are the interesting part, at least 6 or 8 which can be tied back to the mixer or send to returns.
You mean this?

Re: Anyone developing a mixer?

Still early days, much UI work needed,
I am still not convinced it is bringing anything to the table over Line Mixer 6:2 and Mixer 14:2.
Yes it is smaller than 14:2, yes it has more channels than 6:2... but do we really need something in between these?

About year this pedal-like FX in the work. And now about 80% in complete. Cant say when it can be finished as I'm interesting to realise it in various ways. Very usable and creative fx.
