Re: (Drum & Bass) arthur - mozaic (RBM's Crimewave Mix)

Thanks all, I'd just been to a Dieselboy show and felt really inspired to do some D&B, glad it's turned out well! I'd be curious to hear what the original sounds like. My buddy just put out the single, the original can be found here . I banged out another D&B remix for him a couple days later, but I...

Re: Anyone else annoyed by this in Reason?

All the time. I move around the sequencer quickly and never understood why I'd occasionally get these ghost clips for no reason.

Same here. It's inconvenient but by now it's second nature. It'd be nice to see it fixed.

Re: Reason 12 demo on mac mini sounds shallow

Which version are you coming from? I remember when the SSL mixer was new and it was exciting to have it instead of clunkily chaining the other mixers together when I exceeded 14 instruments. As for the menus, I've been upgrading since 2.5 so any changes were pretty gradual and I mostly use keyboard ...

(Drum & Bass) arthur - mozaic (RBM's Crimewave Mix)

Kind of a little preview here. I've been mixing a lo-fi hip hop album for a friend and he wanted a remix for his lead single so I banged this out over the course of a few days. Naturally I completely dissected and destroyed it, because to me a good remix is highly transformative. Anyway, for the fol...

Re: (Metal) RBM feat. arthur - Satanic Panic (Metal Version)

Good ear, it is the Reason bass RE, run through a Scream, an amp sim, and some EQ to fatten it up a little.

I knocked the snare down a touch; I gave it a listen on earbuds instead of nice headphones and monitors and you were right, it was just a little too loud.

(Metal) RBM feat. arthur - Satanic Panic (Metal Version)

https://soundcloud.com/killhamster/rbm-satanic-panic-metal-version A preview of sorts of one of the remixes I plan on releasing on a single. The original was sort of industrial and I wanted to go ahead and make a completely metal version, inspired by bands like White Zombie and (early) Tool. Mostly...

Re: What do you suck at in Reason?

I'd like to think I have a good handle on mixing, mastering, programming, and all the technical bits, but I know I'm not as strong at just writing melodies. Sure, this isn't just a Reason problem, but Reason is all I use so... I used to get around this by writing with a friend who wasn't as good at ...

Re: Teenage Engineering announces new OP-1 "Field"... at $2000 USD lmao

Jeremy at Red Means Recording... stopped, because what he found was that the OP-1 forces you into a very specific genre of music with a very specific sound, and he got tired of sounding like all of the other OP-1 users out there. So he stopped. Curious about this, as I just was never interested in ...

Re: [hard trance anthem] Rising Night Wave - Ode To Road (WIP)

I really like the sounds and progression, save for one thing. It felt like the whole track was a huge build up with no payoff. :puf_unhappy: A lot of the hard trance I like has a very mechanical, driving 4-on-the-floor beat, offset hi-hats and bass stabs, etc. There's no drop or the like, so it ends...

Re: [D&B] I EVERYMAN

Very old school, I like it. Every now and then I get an itch and listen to a bunch of really old D&B and breakbeat hardcore like this. Definitely would feel at home in a dark second room at a party where all the cool folks end up because they want something harder and better than the headliner.

Re: (Drum & Bass) Shanghai Delta - Flute Soup (RBM VIP)

The drums really drive this track. Definitely keep the busy drums in there, it sounds really good. What'd you use for drums? I have a huge collection of rex loops I've built up over the years, just tons and tons of D&B refills. This was on top of the glitchy percussion elements my friends provided....

Re: Teenage Engineering announces new OP-1 "Field"... at $2000 USD lmao

I've got a few pocket operators and they're pretty fun, and I have a buddy with the original OP-1 and an OP-Z and he loves them, but I'm not sure I'll ever understand the hype. These things just don't click with me and I'd rather have more capable or more distinctive (and do, consequently). Any fans...

Re: (electronic rock/dreampop) Can You See

Fantastically produced, gives me real A Perfect Circle vibes. I feel like a lot of folks dealt with a lot of heavy stuff during the pandemic, especially at the beginning, and it's led to some great art, even if the circumstances leading to it weren't so great. As for a song that's been in progress f...

Very cool, this sort of thing is right up my alley (among a ton of other things, I can't be nailed down) and I'll be looking forward to more. I don't mind the kick, kickdrums aren't really the main focus of this kind of music as opposed to more dance-oriented things. What did you use to program/reco...

Very groovy, great French house feel to it. Conceptually, you nailed it. Sonically something doesn't sit quite right with me. I feel like it needs more low end and width. Still very cool though.

https://soundcloud.com/killhamster/shanghai-delta-flute-soup-rbm-vip I have some friends who live in Shanghai that I used to jam with, and since the city has been under pretty strict lockdown we all collaborated on a virtual jam, passing stems back and forth with a tempo and key and building on the...

That is excellent and glowing praise! Thanks for checking it out and digging the groove and flow. Usually I just put out one or two tracks at a time, it's been very hard to hold on to all of these and wait to put them out as a whole unit. That said, I grew up listening to lots of different genres of...

Liking what I have heard so far. Nude beach is a great kind of interlude track going into track 5 (which so far is my favourite). Will have to listen to 6 onwards when I next get a free moment. Thanks! I spent a good deal of time deciding on how to sequence the tracks themselves to give the whole t...

Re: [techno] Rising Night Wave - Struck By Lightning [FINISHED]

Really digging your techno offerings, they remind me of the first time I walked into a rave and was faced down with a stark wall of bass, the DJs would spin techno and trance and this one took me back to that echoey, cavernous room full of people there for the music. As for the kick and bass that fo...

Re: Must Have Rack Extensions for Trance Production?

If you're looking for FX, a lot of the stock stuff is excellent. In my last trance track I mostly used The Echo, Sweeper, Quartet, and Alligator. There's a couple tracks with Turn2On's Blue Face flanger, and a few of Ekss's TE MK2s. I keep some RV7000s on FX sends for reverb on pads or leads. No nee...
