Re: Must Have Rack Extensions for Trance Production?
If you don't already have Synapse's Antidote I'd put it high up on your wish list. It's my go-to synth for trance leads and such. I also reach for Quadelectra's Jackbox 7R-909 a lot when doing up trance tracks. And if you don't have your own TB-303/TB-03/TD-3 then I'd check out the ABL3 RE.

Re: Which Rack Extensions have you recently bought and why?
I use the RE subscription and regularly cycle things in and out of it as I find the need for them, but the last one I actually bought was Red Rock Sound's Bass Enhancer. I had to retool my master bus chain after getting that free PA bundle and instantly falling in love with the Black Box HG-2. I thi...

Transmission: A full LP produced with Reason
Back in January I told myself I wanted to finish up a whole album and got to work on new material and finishing up lots of mostly-done projects. It spans a few different genres, because I just make what I like, and I apparently like a lot of different stuff. https://killhamster.bandcamp.com/album/tr...

Re: Windows 7 Pro for Reason 12?
When I rebuilt my current PC, Win10 would barely let me sign in before crashing. Turns out the ISO I'd had on hand was way too old and getting a newer one that was much more up to date fixed things for me.

Re: Plugin Alliance becomes part of "Soundwide"
I've bought stuff from all three, so I don't really have any issue with such a merger. The freebies from PA are very nice though. I tried out the black box HG-2 and was so impressed that i immediately fit it into the master bus that's in my default project template. It adds just the right kind and a...

Re: (Drum & Bass) Let It Follow
Haha no worries, not everything will appeal to everyone. To top it off, melodies were never my strong suit. I used to write with a friend and he'd handle melodies and interesting basslines and I'd cover all the rhythmic elements as those were my area of expertise. I haven't had a co-writer like that...

Re: What are your top five devices at the moment?
not counting a stack of mastering tools that's in my default template: Bassline Generator - I love this thing, it's so useful Synapse Antidote - super easy to dial in trance sounds and neat arps Dr. OctoRex - i have gigs and gigs of breakbeat rex loops so this one's essential Sweeper - it's pretty v...

Re: (Drum & Bass) Let It Follow
Thanks for the feedback! I've had mixed results with the noisy, distorted basses that you find in some styles of D&B and really like the deep, subby basses, but I can see how that's not for everyone. That's an Algoritm patch called "808 slap" (I think) and I've ended up using it even more than Monot...

(Drum & Bass) Let It Follow
I've been working on an album's worth of material and put out a couple of tracks early. This was the first one I managed to complete and post. Some pals from another forum had been discussing D&B and how to produce it and posted a video someone had done about how to make classic-sounding D&B tracks....

This is unreal! I've always liked psy and goa and sometimes have difficulty getting the sound right. I'd really love to know how you program your kick drums (or what samples you use) and bass synths.

Re: (Goa/Psytrance) We Are Not Alone
It's not what I expected from you, you added length rather than developing the melody. :puf_unhappy: I'm sorry, I just felt like I'd gotten out most of my limited melodic vocabulary out with what I had already. I did play it up a little with an extra synth arpeggiating a different way, but not much...

Re: (Goa/Psytrance) We Are Not Alone
Thanks! I tried to cut this one short because I have a tendency to make things needlessly long without enough development of themes and I'm putting it in for a soundtrack CD and didn't want to have it be excessively long compared to other tracks that might be on the album.

(Goa/Psytrance) We Are Not Alone
Been working on this for a while, going to submit it for this year's DEF CON soundtrack album. It came about from me finally unpacking and connecting my TB-03 to my new PC and fiddling with it a bit.

Every time they offer it to me I listen to the little sample and it is never better than what I can do myself. I certainly wouldn't pay for it.

I hope that was sarcasm. The trees that are used for the paper currency against the energy that is used for hashing and building the needed computer parts on the other hands are a joke. Normal money is actually a bunch of ancient mainframes running cobol in batch mode, where govt can edit money dat...

We get it. Bxbrkrz is heavily invested in the scam and defends it at all cost cause else he's left with the realisation that he fell for a very silly scam. He doesn't want to lose his money and wishes to go "to the moon". I'm with chimp spanner on this. This whole thing just makes me want to die. F...

I don't really foresee that happening. A slow, bloated, inefficient distributed database is the last thing the IRS needs.

Re: RE 200 Bass Enhancer
I keep one in my master section to give everything just a little more oomph, it's dialed in super-subtly. I've used them on other folks' basses too, like integerpoet just mentioned, to thicken them up when the recording wasn't ideal. I do use the Red Rock ones, I like their stuff.

Syncing Pocket Operators to Reason
I just got a set of 3 POs for Christmas and turns out they're very fun to play with, but their sync options are kind of limited. I've found people able to send audio pulses out from other devices/their DAW to sync them, but I don't see a good way to do this within Reason (or at least my options in R...

Re: [DRUM AND BASS] BLUUDY NORA
I'm here for it, I really dig busy and noisy D&B and super hardcore stuff by Dieselboy and similar artists so I get where you're coming from. It's very "clean" though, and I feel like it could even be a bit dirtier, e.g. there's a synth that comes in at about :44 in that could be dirtied up a bit wi...
