Re: Trading my Ableton Live Lite license for a Reason Lite license
That's seriously not a fair trade. Live Lite is pretty much useless for any serious work, not so much for Reason Lite it seems. I'm only basing myself on 3rd pary info but let's talk Live Lite : 16 scenes, 16 mono (!) output channels and up to 8 tracks. Though I am talking Lite 12. Reason Lite then....

Re: Life after Rewire
I've been away from Reason for a couple of years and I'm trying to sync Reason with a Pro Tools session with video. Is there any way to achieve decent synchronization now that there is no Rewire? Apologies up front, but this topic kinda hit me hard because before the Propellerheads deciced to dump ...

Has it ever been shared why they focused on just the rack vs. the full DAW?
Hi gang! I'm a Live user first and foremost, always have been, but soon after I picked up on Live 8 I wanted to 'expand' my setup a bit. Having already purchased Max for Live (which was a separate purchase back then, even for Suite users) I soon discovered Reason 4 and it was pretty much love at fir...

Re: R12, 16 months on, ... how are you all finding it?
I'm still on Reason 11, which I nowadays only sporadically use for the rack plugin feature. Meanwhile I'm using "other DAW" as my latest #2 in addition to Live; Live has been the center of my home studio ever since 2009. Speak of which... the Live fanboy in me is flattered, but the former vivid Reas...

Re: Will we ever see Reason ported to Linux - or would their CodeMeter Authentication software prevent this?
There's a reason why hardly any company bothers with Linux... and it's not just the small userbase. I mean, have we already forgotten that some major tech companies like NVidia, Microsoft (they even supplied kernel patches!), and even IBM are involved with all this? Not to mention that Linux also sp...

Re: Reason rack anyone ?
Since this is a forum dedicated to Reason, I assume that most of us use it as their DAW While that might be true you shouldn't forget Reason's legacy that easily. It were the Props themselves who came up with the ReWire protocol and it quickly became an industry-wide standard, I'm still very much i...

Re: Kong vs Redrum vs Umpf.....your favorite and why?
Ever since it got announced I was hooked on Kong, but part of that is probably because of my general fascination for synths: it is a drum designer afterall? I still love working with those physical modelling generators. Of course there's a bit more to this story: I'll take a drumpad controller over ...

Re: Reason Studios 13 or 14 (Future Talk)
I agree that the SoundWide group might be a good match for RS. I wonder if Verdane would try to sell them right now. I highly doubt that... I've been following this whole thing on and off from a NI perspective (= me being active on the NI forum) and all the hype has pretty much ended. For several m...

Adding DAW functionality to the RRP like you suggest is NOT the scope of this post. (And I would also argue against it). So please stay on topic or create your own suggestion thread. Thanks. Errr, this is posted in Reason General, and the very description for this forum mentions discussions about R...

Re: Reason Studios 13 or 14 (Future Talk)
Please bear in mind that major bias on my end is involved... From my (biased!) point of view they should consider joining SoundWide . From my pov SoundWide is a joined effort by several companies who had issues... At one time iZotope pushed heavily for subscription only, Native Instruments also poke...

Re: Suggestion for a more modular Reason release
Just wondering: you do realize that the rack plugin comes with its own copy of the Reason DAW to utilize? Using the rack plugin implies having 2 copies of Reason installed. Honestly... I think they should focus on providing a full substitute for the removal of ReWire. I mean... I don't get it, reall...

Silly childish response. Not even worth responding to other than to point that out. Ah yes, if you can't counter the arguments just ridicule the messenger and hope they'll get triggered enough after which the mods may step in. Or maybe it's just cancel culture at work? Dunno and don't care. Unlike ...

Oh dear... Having said that: didn't they already make their statement by introducing their rack plugin and by doing so dropping support for ReWire all over !? That last part is easy to overlook if you're devoted to Reason (or maybe it's just me) but I didn't realize that when Reason stopped supporti...

Re: Where do think Reason (Studios) are heading in the next couple of years? (Speculation thread)
My only real hope is that the Propellerhead company gets back into the control over a firm and/or company which values music and musical expression over pure profits. Now, this may sound dumb considering that in the end all companies thrive on profit. But there's a huge difference between the goals ...

Re: What is the best ReWire alternative? (or, what's the best way to replicate it?)
Read and comprehend I never said you could drag midi in Rewire, what I said was it's not possible to drag midi from players in the RRP and that imo makes the RRP weak! Which is why I said that you made it appear as if... In Rewire you could send midi to the sequencer with a click of a button, it's ...

Re: What is the best ReWire alternative? (or, what's the best way to replicate it?)
But "overpriced" isn't a useful word in these discussions. It suggests an objective standard which doesn't exist. Sure it does. Look at specs and then what people are charging for it. Or... look at what you pay for support and then look at what you get back in return if you actually need it. The 0,...

Re: What is the best ReWire alternative? (or, what's the best way to replicate it?)
Not being able to drag midi from players or sequencers besides Redrum really makes the RRP weak imo. Those of us who maximized Rewire took a huge lost in workflow when they discontinued Rewire. I find it crazy how so many people didn't use Rewire and understand how much of a weapon it was. RRP can'...

Re: What is the best ReWire alternative? (or, what's the best way to replicate it?)
I never had occasion to use ReWire or Ableton Link, but that apparently hasn't stopped me from brainstorming. Does Reason support Ableton Link? What did ReWire have that Ableton Link lacks? Reason does indeed support Link but the problem is that Link is a one way street so to speak whereas ReWire w...

Re: POLL: Did you spend more or less in 2021 (to Reason Studios)?
I ended up spending way less... In the year before I had nabbed an upgrade to Reason 10 (I was still on 6 at the time) which also included a free upgrade to Reason 11. Because I wanted to expand on Reason as well I also nabbed several rack extensions (basically all the new rack extentions from Reaso...

Re: What is the best ReWire alternative? (or, what's the best way to replicate it?)
To be honest I don't think there is a "one size, fits all" alternative that will work for everyone. The best you can do is the rack plugin which is a decent alternative save the sequencer. 1) Reason + Ableton : A few occasions in the past I was asked to do the music and the sound for animations. I u...
