Re: The Funky Navigation Thread

If you want to have it in the combinator lane you have to actually use the combinator like it is meant to be used: Simply map that Subtractor Filter Freq to a (new) knob on the combinator. Yeah I know, but that is so.. time consuming. I did it on one track only, mapping volume controls on several i...

Re: The Funky Navigation Thread

Don't get me started on automation lanes in Reason which can become a mess. For instance, since Reason 11 I changed my work style in Reason and started using combinators if I want to separate different instruments/plugins. So for example for Track 1, create combinator (which creates its on mix chann...

Re: are we going to see more perpetual versions ?

After this recent debacle with Bitwig and Spectral Suite, I think Reason Studios should merge with Bitwig Studios :D get it? Oh man I missed Reason for so long, stopped following their updates around 2010 or something when they released Record. My only thought was "why?". And then I just closed my b...

I messed up some time ago when installing Reason, can't remember how exactly. But used to have two VST folders inside ProgramFiles, one regular named VSTplugins and another VSTplugins (x64). Now I deleted the first folder yet Reason does not let me to remove it from Preferences. Option is greyed ou...

Re: Copy Slots / Channels / Engines

A related question. Is there a possibility that I am not aware of how to copy/paste effect parameters in Reason? For example MClass Equalizer, or any other effect that doesn't have patch browsing. It would be very useful feature and I am surprised it is not implemented after 2 decades. You can only ...

I haven't personally, just checked my 12 year old track which had Thor in it. But then again, I never used 3rd party refills. So it could be issue with Refills themselves, I suppose.

Re: Click one thing, get another thing

Or better yet, make it into OPTIONS and ability to enable/disable drag and drop. :lightbulb: That is essentially what I proposed. Drag from edge vs drag from anywhere as an option. Ah sorry, misunderstood you then. But yes, Reason settings in general are lacking such stuff or any interesting and us...

Re: Click one thing, get another thing

The automation thing is a bit annoying. It's worth noting you can press Escape to exit inline editing, so you can avoid the issue if you get in the habit of pressing escape whenever you're finished. I don't think a modifier key should be used to drag rack devices, because there are already modifier...

Re: Click one thing, get another thing

I sort of figured how they could at least fix this Drag and Drop issue - simply make it that it only works while pressing some key, shift/control or whatever of 99 keys on a keyboard. It would make happy both camps, to whom drag and drop from any corner of the device may be crucial part of workflow ...

Re: so truthfully what’s going on Reason Studios

are we going to see more perpetual versions ? Short answer, yes. Long answer - who knows. It is their business model and it works. I used to be in a same boat not so long ago thinking maybe they will move eventually away from DAW and onto sub model as rack plugin. But right now I suspect they inten...

Click one thing, get another thing

Just Reason things, I guess. So one thing for sure that is most irritating in Reason 12 right now for me at least is drag and drop which happens from any side of the instrument. And here is another - when you have one automation lane open and then double click on one below in order to open that inst...

If you added some mastering FX (like limiters with look ahead): those tend to introduce huge amounts of latency.
Funny, today I noticed Vocoder on certain setting (FFT 512) introduces 960 sample latency

Redrum because I am lazy to learn/try something else and it's simple and fast to use and also has sequencer. So it satisfies my needs.

Re: Ableton Live 11.2 released!

I don't know, I kinda like it the minimalist Ableton approach in general, less distractions. But instruments themselves, yeah, quite ugly looking and do not inspire to work with them at all :D It is hard to differentiate between them in a rack too.

Hilarious and cool. On my every machine I had/have audacity installed but I only use it to look at my exported waveform and sometimes normalize my tracks. Good to hear they are going further with this.

Re: Latency issues after saving a song in 12+

You are using external instrument, right? I mean midi keyboard etc? Put buffer size at 256, it should be enough for playing live. You can later quantize if you want. 64 is too low and not neccessary. And if you ain't using external instrument, put buffer all the way to 1024. If neither give much eff...

Re: Best Laptops for Music Production in 2022 (from the Reason Studios blog)

There is not best, only good enough. Same for any other DAW. Blog post itself is kinda.. poorly written, to put it bluntly. The only good advice is looking at CPU power of the laptop. It is crucial. Then RAM and SSD. Anything else is just a cherry on top. I am not sure about XPS laptops (despite the...

Re: Latency issues after saving a song in 12+

What are your setting? Buffer size, sample rate? Are they synced between Focusrite and Reason? You can always check by opening Focusrite settings (right click the logo in bottom right and press settings). I had/have similar problem, but I am not using any external instrument, just playing RAW file i...

Re: Delay compensation and latency

From my perspective 0.2ms is a to small amount to hear something lagging. Therefore, I suspect that it is something else to blame. What happens if you deactivate the Delay Compensation? You are right, it was something else. Also no effect when disabled Delay Compensation. I noticed disabling one in...

Re: Delay compensation and latency

Without info on your project sample rate and the "use audio device buffer for rendering" setting this is pertty much just wild guessing, but 0.2 ms could be just the few samples delay that is introduced by the plugins or delay compensation 8 samples @ 44.1kHz = 0,00018 s (~0.2 ms). Also have a read...

Re: Delay compensation and latency

Any plugin that needs to "peek into the future" for its algorithm will introduce latency if it correctly reports that latency to the host (=Reason) and delay compensation is turned on, then all other tracks are delayed in time to keep everything in sync as timetravel tech is not (yet?) available in...

Delay compensation and latency

Again me. Have a few questions and how to approach the problem that I am having. Today I noticed that on a track that I am working my drums are lagging behind while playing (merely 10 tracks). Then looked at the bottom of Reason and noticed that Delay Compensation is lit up and number 8 below it. Wh...
