Re: Announcing Reason 13
In my opinion you are emotionalized and way too optimistic and you are not realistic. Read my last few messages (about SuperBooth) again. It's about my guess that they start the public beta after SuperBooth. I merely gave possible reasons as to why they would do that, but that is not something to b...

Re: Announcing Reason 13
I think... Again, a lot of opinion, conjecture, and insinuations. And again without any factual knowledge of the situation. Let's see: Coming week is SuperBooth, that's a fact. Reason Studios will be there, again, fact. SuperBooth is about showing new products to the world, and more important, to t...

Re: Announcing Reason 13
Based on previous releases, is there a typical time-frame from a new version's announcement to the Beta testers receiving it? Eager to try out 13👍🏻 Reason Studios will be at SuperBooth the coming week, and my guess is they'll start the public beta after that. They certainly will be showing R13 ther...

Re: Announcing Reason 13
Two options for missing basic functions that would attract and hold DAW users: 1. bad product management - for many years 2. no internal resources - for many years Both options should be short-time and not "for many years" in a company. This is all opinion, not fact. In your perception, it may seem...

Re: Announcing Reason 13
And using these libs is all they'd need for loading and writing FLAC files. Indeed. And I stated that several messages back :puf_wink: So really not a big thing to just add them to the source tree and makefile and then add a custom loader/writer class and be done with it. I don't know that, and you...

Check here: https://docs.propellerheads.se/reason10/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm#context=EngOpManProjectPro&file=NN_19.42.3.html "The audio file format support differs depending on which computer OS you are using." Its already the case. Yes, different OS as in Windows or Mac. Not just diff...

Re: Announcing Reason 13
Windows Media Player 12 is deprecated and has been so for years. The default Media Player in Windows 11 is the new Media Player (formerly Groove Music). The whole point is that if they implement FLAC support, it has to be working on every (currently) supported Windows version. Doing that based on n...

Re: Announcing Reason 13
Wasn't it the case that Mp3 support (reading Mp3 files) in Reason was solved by functions of the operating system's media libraries? So if FLAC is supported by Windows and MacOS etc., it could easily be integrated into Reason in the same way. Maybe read my post above, explaining that Windows does N...

Re: Announcing Reason 13
Windows has system-level support for FLAC, just like macOS. You are wrong on that, and the devil is in the details. Native support is different from being able to install codecs. MP3 is available on Windows, but you have to install a codec for that, same with FLAC. Although the FLAC algorithms are ...

Re: Announcing Reason 13
Didn’t expect that they did it the easy way by using system functionality. My guess indeed is that they use the FLAC-support that is built-in in the Apple OS. Implementing native FLAC-support should be a no-brainer, especially as the FLAC format license is a free-for-everyone affair, and the algori...

Re: Is it safe to uninstall R11-Suite?
I'd suggest just keeping it on your machine. It doesn't exactly take up much space. Nah, I don't keep software installed that I don't use anymore. I also had several other DAWs installed, but those are getting removed one by one as well. I only keep the previous major version of Reason installed to...

Re: Is it safe to uninstall R11-Suite?
I uninstalled R11 when R12 came out and i didn't have any problems. I have/had Suite and none of my REs were affected (nor did they need to be reinstalled/downloaded). Disclaimer: Your results may vary. Likewise, I upgraded from R11 Suite to R12 and lost none of my Suite REs. Didn't have to reinsta...

Re: Is it safe to uninstall R11-Suite?
Is the concern with having to redownload it due to bandwidth or storage space? None of that. It's just that I have a nice stable working installation that I can use to make music, while the rut of reinstalling stuff (that is currently installed and working) is seriously off-putting :puf_wink: But a...

Re: Is it safe to uninstall R11-Suite?
At worst you would need to redownload the RE content via companion. That's the issue I'm worried about, as suite came with some content that does not install via the current version of companion, mainly the soundiron sample-based instruments, Radical Piano, etc. From the R13 blogpost: Companion’s a...

Is it safe to uninstall R11-Suite?
I still have R11-Suite installed, besides R12. With the upcoming release of R13, I see no use in keeping R11 on my machine, but I'm afraid that uninstalling it will also remove the related 'suite' content (REs, sounds, etc.). That would mean I have to re-install all that. In that case, I might need ...

Re: Do I need Reason's Companion? And an Offline Renewal Question
And CrimsonWarlock above says that Reason 12 no longer uses authorizer, no matter which 12.x version you are on. Indeed, it seems that you need companion from 12.7 onwards, as that is stated in some places on the RS shop. I was reasoning from the screen you get when buying or trialing a new RE, whi...

Re: Do I need Reason's Companion? And an Offline Renewal Question
Reason 12 no longer uses authorizer, no matter which 12.x version you are on. As I understand it, this means that as soon you want to install a new RE or re-install an RE you already own, you can only do that with companion.

Re: Seeking solutions from fellow beatmakers
Just filter out the pitch bend info...Oh wait, it's Reason you're talking about. They're working on Reason's MIDI integration, but since MIDI is so new (it's only been around for 40 years), it might take a while. R17 maybe? I have two Roland A-880 MIDI patch bays, that I got in the eighties, that c...

Re: Announcing Reason 13
So have they come up with a way to store some of those RE samples on another drive. I have 15GB of OS space taken up by REs. If you use your system for other things even a 500GB drive is stretching it. I stopped buying sample based REs. I have my whole Reason installation, including all REs, on my ...

Yes, I've come a long road from trackers first on ZX Spectrum in 80's, then ModEdit and Fastracker in 90's - so I'm more familiar to this style of visual representation Actually, trackers didn't have piano rolls at all. They have/had tracks (hence the name 'tracker'), that were vertically displayed...

Grabbed this image from the RS page, it shows the familiar favorites "star" ("Showcase" in this case) so I'm guessing everything is going to be just fine… Not sure where you grabbed that image, but that is the 'old' browser-pane that we have right now :puf_wink: The 'devices' pane (at the left side...

Re: Life after Rewire
So you can use Ableton Link. Should be able to get you close to rewire functionality, maybe with the help of some virtual audio loopback.
There's also BlueCat's Connector: https://www.bluecataudio.com/Products/P ... Connector/
