Re: Almost all my songs are audibly clipping, what am I missing?
I am indeed talking about the channel meters. My post was intended to be an extremely brief starting place (and one that you can also do very quickly, so that you can get on with your song), not intended for in-depth discussion to cover 100% of the cases. If you load up all your instruments, -10 is ...

Re: Almost all my songs are audibly clipping, what am I missing?
You gotta start somewhere, right? -10 dB on the channels is a place to start. Set everything to -10 (this is a good starting point because when combining all channels you probably won't hit 0 on master). Organize your channels in a way the song requires (e.g. kick channel outputs to drums channel, s...

Re: Is there a way to get one midi track to send midi data to another?
Oh man, I just realized that this instrument in kontakt has each of the sub-instruments in their own mix channel. So if I use different hits of the same drum in different "notes" I won't be able to route each to its own instrument. I need to go one level higher... In the general case, I'd need a way...

Re: Is there a way to get one midi track to send midi data to another?
The best option for this kind of stuff is Delta Midi computer, it's an amazing solution for the kind of madnes you're persuing. :) Cheers, MC Ah, neat! I was hoping for something built-in to MIDI/DAWs, but I suppose it doesn't surprise me that much that I'd need an additional plug in. Thanks for th...

Is there a way to get one midi track to send midi data to another?
I have an instrument that plays different drum hits, and I'd like a specific group of hits to be treated as one. I could write out a chord of 5 notes and copy/paste it whenever I'd like that to play, but that starts looking messy. If instead I could have another midi note treat e.g. a C1 as "C1 D2 G...

Re: Sonible Studios Bundle
Tossing my vote for smart:limit - it's quite nice. Got it last holiday season on a good sale, I recommend it. Very easy to use, sounds great, has lots of optional tweaks available too.

Re: SWAM Trombone has different output on playback vs export
Doesn't look like I can edit, so unfortunately have to make this a triple post. Here's everything I've found out about this (my Reason support ticket is closed so I don't expect any more information unless SWAM fixes it): This is most definitely a bug in SWAM Trombones (possibly all of Brass but the...

Re: SWAM Trombone has different output on playback vs export
...Or not! After digging into this more, there is a setting in Audio preferences under Performance called "Render audio using audio card buffer size setting." If this is checked, the problem shows up. If unchecked, no problems. So I would recommend playing around with this setting if you are seeing ...

Re: SWAM Trombone has different output on playback vs export
I finally have an update on this, after going back and forth with Audio Modeling support, Reason support, and Reason Beta support after joining the reason beta program to get access to the next layer of support. This looks to be a bug in SWAM (at least Trombone, if not others) that's related to BOTH...

Re: SWAM Trombone has different output on playback vs export
I deleted facebook a few years ago, but I'll be opening a support ticket. I just didn't want to do that if it was a Reason vst3 issue - I know the support for them is relatively new and there were a few bugs (e.g. the Pro-Q 3 solo band not working, but was fine in the vst2 version). Good idea about ...

Re: SWAM Trombone has different output on playback vs export
I updated to 3.7.1 and the same. Nudging the entire song by a bar doesn't affect it. In the full song, there are multiple cases of the note being cut short - this was just the most minimal of a repro I could find. It appears to be related to the rhythm or the offset - it seems more likely to happen ...

Re: SWAM Trombone has different output on playback vs export
Should be the newest everything - SWAM 3.7.0, Win10, and Reason 12.6.1d72. Tried vst2 and vst3 versions.
Edit: I also tried SWAM 3.6.0 and it still repros.

SWAM Trombone has different output on playback vs export
Tiny repro attached, includes .reason file, an exported wave file, and a wave file recorded by loopback recording (via Audacity). I noticed that with SWAM Alto Trombone, I get different output depending on if I'm listening to it via playback or by exporting to a file. I'm pretty sure that the playba...

Re: My attempt at a transient/sustain splitter combinator (only stock devices) - any improvements?
WALL OF TEXT ALERT!!! Oh! I think the implication here is that you need to create your panner twice - split your stereo signal into two mono channels (L and R) and then run each of those through an envelope follower. Then use that envelope follower as CV to control pan (and not volume like I was do...

Re: My attempt at a transient/sustain splitter combinator (only stock devices) - any improvements?
Thanks everyone for the discussion :) one thing that might help is to consider also using free REs Agreed! I don't have problems with using free REs, but I do prefer using stock devices over them if possible (it is fewer steps for the end user). I'm sure there are other reasons though - like I'm sur...

and that is that you have hit some issues where the solution creates more problems. I think you are misunderstanding what I'm saying. I'm saying that I was attempting to do this, but am pretty obviously doing something wrong (and therefore that I do not actually have a solution). It is probably wro...

Re: My attempt at a transient/sustain splitter combinator (only stock devices) - any improvements?
That depends on what you want to do. If you are looking to create something natural, then sure. But if you are just looking to experiment or create something neat, why should you limit yourself? Sound design is essentially limitless, and thus limiting yourself to not play around with something hurts...

Re: Pianobook, a place for free samples
Just signed up, can I ask as a novice, do I just download them and load them into NNXT or Grain? Im guessing they are not patches and individual wavs? Yeah looks like it. If you have Kontakt you can use them with it, but otherwise you'll have to load them into an NNXT sample by sample (I've looked ...

My attempt at a transient/sustain splitter combinator (only stock devices) - any improvements?
Hello, I'm pretty new to reason and I noticed that there were a couple of small things missing that would be a huge improvement. Reason is so modular that as long as you have the "small" pieces (i.e. building blocks), you can put them together to do virtually anything you want. However, when I start...
