Has Sean Carter just blown $56 million ?
Sound quality issues aside, I see this as more of a missed opportunity than anything nefarious or ill intentioned. The missed opportunity IMO is for all of these successful and well established artists to use their position to create a platform that clearly benefits up-and-coming artists. If the f...

How to set up an Spotify Artist page?
It is confusing... but they aren't alone. I've found that most of these platforms (and getting on them) is a mind melt. I'm sorry I don't have a magic bullet for you-- spotifyartist.com is how I did it. I will say that I'm not yet "verified" as I don't have 250 followers, so I can't help from that ...

Thanks, Mark - Yeah, I often do tilt the condenser... don't know why I didn't do the same for the ribbon. But, I love that you guys are all coming to the same conclusions. Yeah, I need the Cloudlifter.
Thanks, Concep!

So here's some feedback for what is worth: It seems the Ribbon mic controls the plosives and Sss much better than the Condenser. The breaths do sound more natural with the Ribbon. There's a bit more air with the Condenser, making things a bit more clear, but it comes with the added slight sibilance...

Hi Julibee, These sound like the classic ribbon vs LDC comparison's I've done previously. I DO hear quite a bit of consistent low end "disturbance" on the ribbon, even with the pop filter. I would definitely filter it to remove this as it's fairly constant and not always directly related to a plosi...

Wow - very cool comparison examples! The players worked for me in Chrome, but were a little finicky to click the "play" button (had to try a few times to get it right). Your experience seems to echo mine - the ribbon mic is definitely "smoother" on the highs. Frankly, it works really well for you...

An aside about recording in a small, reflective room like a bathroom. That's how "room" reverbs were originally made. A speaker and a mic were placed in a room. The dry track was played back through the speaker, and recorded on the mic. You could change the sound by moving the speaker and mic in re...

Netflix
Netflix is a streaming, choose-what-you-want-from-our-big-list-of-movies type of thing. It even allows you to rate things you've seen in the past, and then will make recommendations based on those ratings and whatever else you watch on Netflix. It's really good for indie/small budget stuff, and the...

I've fixed it up a bit... uploaded to a new Soundcloud account and embedded players. Of course, that means there's Soundcloud compression, but that's the best I can do to eliminate the hassle.

Yay! Recorded some vocal samples today, using the new Austin Model 1 Ribbon mic that I made and posted about here ... You can read all about the results and testing methodology over at my blog ... Ribbon/Condenser shoot-out Question....
Great thoughts -- Am posting these to my blog and sending to Austin DIY Mic ... just wanted to make them sound as nice as possible without any tricks.
They both are really soft in places, and a bit pushing 0 in others, which I would normally correct in various ways. Thanks, Selig!

Ribbon/Condenser shoot-out Question....
Hey... I just recorded several things in several vocal styles, running both my condenser and my new ribbon mic at the some time (side by side, in other words), and two environments. In bouncing, should I normalize the clips? I don't usually... but since I'm comparing them completely without fx or...

Midi Controller Keyboard.
I sometimes wish for 88 keys, but 61 is enough for most of the time. 49 absolutely wouldn't cut it. But I play my controller like a piano mostly, not like a synth. So, I need octaves.
