Sequential is back: Prophet 6

MSP $2,799. I'm looking forward to checking this out - but the price seems a bit odd - only $200 cheaper than the Prophet 12 and $700 more than the Prophet '08 - both of which have a 5 octave keyboard.  But this one has the little script "SEQUENTIAL" on the back so everyone knows you spent almost $...

Recording vocals

I've watched some very well respected engineers use MUCH less HP filtering, even less than I was used to using. Made me re-think whether I was over-filtering my vocals. Remove too much and you remove the 'body' of the voice, which can easily descend down below in almost all cases 250 Hz (around mid...

Don't push it or give them any ideas. This is quite conservative by Web3.0 sozial inuractivity stream sozial stream standards. It's not too late for Props to leverage their social cloud platform and re-invent peer-to-peer collaborative music generation and organically grow distributed content deliv...

The "San Francisco" section of that video is filmed entirely in the Mission District.  Yep, Props is now all about the hipsters.

Logic X 10.1!!!

Wow this part looks pretty cool: Retro Synth. Now you can import any audio file to create custom wavetables using the enhanced wavetable oscillator. Shape and manipulate sounds with full control over oscillator parameters. And stack voices to create your own lush, dense synth sound. I may just have ...

Windows 10

3rd Floor Sound wrote:Uh, what happened to 9? Is that the 13th floor?
The issue is a LOT of software has statements in it like "IF WINDOWS = 9* THEN..." in it, looking to see if the Windows version is 95 and 98 as opposed to XP or whatever.

So, calling it Windows 9 would break a lot of existing software, that's all.

Recording vocals

Once you've got a decent vocal take, the best advice I can give is to high-pass filter the vocal using the SSL channel strip.  That was probably the #1 improvement to my vocals once someone told me about that.  It removes a lot of microphone or room rumble and makes the vocal a lot clearer and easie...

Bass is really deep too, sounds good !
Thanks, Jan.  That bass is from Raymond's hardware synth called the DSI Mopho.  http://www.davesmithinstruments.com/product/mopho/

It really sounds like that thing has got a mind of its own, doesn't it?

Killing the forum is killing Reason as we know it

I don't know about that.  People were making the EXACT same comments about DAWs with integrated audio like Studio Vision when they came out.  I suspect the same comments came out when the first MIDI sequencers became available, but that was before my time. There is always a benefit in knowing what y...

Great to see you Charly and George and everyone!

Ernst's Official Announcement regarding the end of PUF

The problem is one which a lot of businesses face with just one major product line, that's flat growth. They think people must therefore hate the product and the only way to grow again is to completely overhaul it, both visually and in usage. This is the curse that befell R8. They didn't know what ...

Another idea to to add two separate subforums:  1.  complaining about Reason and 2.  Pathetic interpersonal drama

That way we could just avoid it.

Nah it's easy enough to get around that by using a different username.  I just think we should keep a lid on drama as soon as it starts.

Goodbye PUF: Dressed in Water!

Very cool song.  Creative as hell but still gives a really familiar vibe.  Your singing has gotten quite a bit better over the years I think! I especially love the line "Exocet your freedom".  Conjures up memories when I was a kid of endless video of an aircraft carrier sailing inexorably south towa...

Some tunes for the stereo

Starts a bit slow for me but I can tell that's totally intended.  I found that when I started to look at something else the music grabbed me more, if that makes any sense.  There are some really cool sounds in there... especially the ones where you are brutally time-stretching the sounds (at least t...

new Pacific Deep song (Bitley's Fairlight refill + Mopho hardware synth)

First post in the new forum so I decided to upload a new Pacific Deep song to Soundcloud in the new forum's honor. This song is done entirely with Bitley's Fairlight Platinum refill except for the bassline which Raymond did with his new toy... a DSI Mopho hardware synth. https://soundcloud.com/somed...
