For me it is still working perfectly. The only problem I have is dusting off the softish surface of Balance. Other than that it's quite awesome imo.

Maybe the instrument is not connected to a mixer channel? When you ctrl drag to copy you won't autoroute the device. Try holding shift as well. That should do the trick

You could use the CV gate on RV7000. I'm not entirely certain right now as I'm far away from Reason, but it might even have a MIDI gate.

Try enabling low resolution mode (Right click on the Reason Icon, Information, low resolution mode). It really helped performance on my roommates MacBook pro!
