Re: Reason sounds great!

I just upgraded from Reason 4 (which I barely used) to Reason 10 and have become somewhat infatuated with it. I’m going to town learning everything I can via macprovideo, groove3, YouTube, etc and have written quite a few new songs just using Reason. I think the software itself sounds really great....

Re: Everyday Ideas

I understand, but you many times come off as making a fool out of people. Even if it's not your intent. Sometimes your sarcasm can be so harsh, it's like trolling; other times, you ridicule people (for example when and 'how' you talked about your clients in a mastering thread ~ see, it can be that ...

Can y'all summarize RobC's primary points so far?
Nope, thats the main issue. He doesn‘t make sense to me at all and doesn‘t want to either explain or give examples for what he means.

Re: Everyday Ideas

I never understood that quote. Should we be like "Okay, I'm sure you won't find it nice that this flood wave is rolling towards you so I won't mention that". No, but Bambi already knew he was kinda' wobbly. While it may come in handy when dancing at a dubstep party, it would be more polite if Thump...

Re: Stop the censorship-machinery! Save the Internet!

I have not enough time or will to do that. There's lots of people who just want to start an arguement out of everything. Agreed - it's the same with all this talk about censorship, too open borders, too closed borders - it's all bullshit anyway and not at all the actual issues that should be talked...

Re: Hydlides rant about performance

One additional comment - those multi-core (10-16 core i9) CPUs are quite a new thing and I remember when iMac Pros were released few months back a lot of software had real problems using those "extra" cores, compared to more standard setups of 4-8 cores - I believe Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro X had...

Re: Hydlides rant about performance

I think it's a fair point to notice he should've tested it with several instances - and not just one - of Expanse (or whatever instrument) because obviously single audio signal will typically be handled by single core/thread, unless the VST has implemented multi-core/thread internally, of which I'm...

Re: Everyday Ideas

Sounds like you're simply describing "creating a bass drum". Who DOESN'T add an amp envelope (that's what you call "dynamics in expander fashion") to a bass drum? The two steps you describe make 60s space-guns (pew-pew), not bass drums - the envelope is an essential part of a bass drum

Re: Hydlides rant about performance

Apologize for my ignorance here but: Threading within a multi-core setup, as far as I know, can only work by track/channel. You can't split one instrument over several cores, right? Unless, you are u-he and actually build your instruments to have multi-core support, like Diva, RePro and Bazille (bt...

Re: Hydlides rant about performance

They have chosen new instruments time and time again, and left us all with the "performance will be fixed soon" answer, and I am growing tired of waiting. Not correct. They never said anything remotely like "Yeah, Reason is slow and we are aware of that". Simply because it's not true. Their instrum...

Re: Hydlides rant about performance

Why would there be any polling when you have a steady pulse of sample batches coming in? All of this is pulled out of VERY thin air. You're right though that threading is a complicated topic that not even all programmers have a firm grip on. I once made a video about this in the forum of an open sou...

Re: Everyday Ideas

Still missing those examples :(

Right now you remind me of the director who wanted different sines coming from all loundspeakers in the theater and then sitting in front of one speaker he said „can you put a bit more bass on this one?“ I told him I could either make that sine louder or more silent.

Re: Hello All, Newbie/Sorta Apple question...

Any (current) Mac runs Reason just fine. Get the form factor that fits your needs best and then select the fastest processor you want to afford, don't get less than 8GB of memory, rather go for 16 (or more). That's it :)

For that iPad I'd get "RS Touch Pro" - THE BEST iPad remote for Reason imo.

Re: Cannot get decent signal from acoustic electric

The thing is that the acoustic guitar probably uses a TRS socket so that when a TS cable is plugged in the R and S get shorted and are used to "turn on" the battery supply for the preamp. If you put a TRS cable in the guitar then R and S won't be connected unless on the other side of the cable R and...

Re: Stop the censorship-machinery! Save the Internet!

No, why do people always think black OR white? It's pretty simple. You do everything as local as possible. Saving humanity from suffocating in their own atmosphere isn't something you can solve from your Texas farm with your rifle  What do you mean with "why do people always think black OR wh...

Re: Stop the censorship-machinery! Save the Internet!

For me the question "is it better for countries to form one big team of states/countries or to go for their own independence?" is still a hard one. I would say: always divide power. So China turning to big is bad. VS being big is bad etc. But on the other hand... don't know. Hard question. What I d...

I'm not informed on this issue, but generally, yes, since the consequences can ruin lives. Is that too much to ask for?
Well... yeah, if only because things change :) Thats why law is only one part of our system, theres also courts etc.

Re: c03u USB mic not recognised

You have to make an "Aggregate Device" in MacOS using the "Audio-MIDI Utility" to have an audio interface with both input (the Samsung) and output (the internal outputs of the Mac) for Reason. Reason doesn't allow you to set a separate input and output device so you can't select the Samsung which is...
