Re: How do reason people feel about using the modules reason 5 has?

I wish there was a 'high quality' setting on the internal synths. I can't prove this, and I'm just using my ears to compare them to other synths, but I think Thor and the other stock synths have some sort of accuracy parameter set to the lowest possible cpu friendly quality setting. Somewhat like h...

EQ cut around 400hz to get rid of the body.

Re: 144 HZ

I think Reason is currently limited to 30fps - and it shows in the spectrum analyzer as well as in the rack. Especially now that we have VST's that aren't limited in framerate. A jump to 60 would be a step in the right direction.

Muting tracks in the sequencer has the same effect, yes?

I know, after I bounce to audio, the original track is muted and not using dsp.
That's the way it (should) work for RE's and stock devices, but apparently, it doesn't work correctly for VST's.

Re: Anybody else do the PH survey in email?

It's likely there are very good reasons for the questions being asked. Also, it's common for surveys like these to make little sense to the people being asked. There is actually a third possible result, that baffles me to this day and I while I forget the agency I was working for (literally my firs...

Re: Looking for some advice on this computer for a back up

It'll run Reason just fine, it seems to be a nice small form factor PC. However it's average to poor value (the processor is two generations old) and worst of all: it doesn't have an SSD. At least try to find something with an SSD!

Re: Q: Tips using processor intensive RE's

I don't know how this works on Macs, but there might be a power management option (like in Windows) that regulates the minimum and maximum CPU power states. It's important to set both of these to 100%. I suspect most laptops are configured to save as much energy as possible, and have these options s...

Ernst is know for saying a lot of things which are then ripped and turned upside down later. He is? Can you give an example? Asking for a friend. Please stop overusing that expression. Asking for a friend who's holding my beer. :P But nowadays with IRs it's even better. Reverb never sounded ...

It's just a VST that's free this month if you want it. 🤷 Nothing bundled with Reason, just a promo code for a free download.
I know, I was just teasing :)

Here is another benchmark (not mine) - It's pre-Skylake (Haswell) which is said to suffer more from this.

JPEG, Canny, PDF - same areas affected on my 8700k, but yeah probably somewhat less harshly.

Maybe there's a difference in how popular this track was in Europe vs. North America. You'd hear this track constantly on the radio in the Netherlands back in the day, an era when "EDM" wasn't a thing yet in the rest of the world.

I missed this feature too - it's very useful for percussion sounds to be able to set the phase to a "clicky" part of the waveform.

1080p screen and the resolution is set correctly. Scaling shouldn't be needed. And it isn't post-GPU because I can screenshot it. Everything else displays fine (so far), so it's probably down to something oddly specific related to how Reason's Combinator gets its font. And this is all on a very fre...

I've been taking random youtube videos, old nature programs, space programs, computer shows from the 80s, etc. I have a script that chops them up into 3-5 second snippits and normalizes the volume. I've been using those as source material for grain with some procedurally generated patches. I genera...
