Hi Thanks. I really like that lead but I have to admit it is more the notes than the sound. Learning notes has helped incredibly. Thor is a very well named as Polysonic as it can cover a huge amount of ground. I think it is one of the best all-rounder synths ever. Because of its versatility it is ea...

Thanks The Main Pad is Thor and only on-board Chorus + Delay. The only external Chorus used is on the Choir at the end which is an ensemble Combi I made out of 4xCF-101 + 3xDDL-1. The ARP has an instance of The Echo. There isn't any Bus Reverb in the whole track. Seems odd looking back esp with the ...

I have always gotten the deepest basses from Thor. Trick is to keep it simple and let it speak. Also with Thor either don't use Reso or drive the filter. The PD OSC can also deliver spades of welly with no filter at all.

Hi Mr Daddy Thanks, "gorgeous" was the sound I was working towards so I am delighted to hear you use that word. I mostly use Thor and Sub but there are a couple of REs in here. I had to look to be sure so I took a screenshot which also lets you see the composition. http://files.websitetoolbox.com/1...

This is the first record where I have used a fair bit of drive on things and while Pulv seemed great at the start I don't think there are many instances left now the album is about to get released If you want to hear one of the offending lines (now with Scream) then the lead that lifts from 2:50 in ...

Hi On the final leg of preparing my next album to meet the world. This is one of the earlier tracks written and shows the balance of upbeat, melodic and atmospheric sounds of the record. I agree with you on that. It does leap straight to crush, kill... which does limit for crunching up sounds that aren't as simple as a drum loop.

In most cases it was a combo of Squash, Dirt and Filter. In every case it was the loud peaky bits would just plain ugly distort and wreck the mix. Wouldn't really notice it till the track was done and listening like a proper record and there it would be. Scream always made a decent replacement and t...

Hi All This may seem silly as Pulveriser is meant to be a sound destruction unit and all but in almost every track I used Pulver on an instrument (like synth brass) I found that in later listens the Pulver was the cause of some nasty distortion in loud passages. I replaced with a Scream in each inst...

Doh! Didn't think of that. Did think the weather seemed nice.Yep. Loads of palm trees in Stockholm these days. I can understand how you made the mistake.
Going there again I see a new feature that ties the orig loop to other uses and mine shows there. I feel a bit better now.

Maybe that is it, one must love in SF to rate.
Thanks for explaining where that park is. Does seem a bit odd. I assumed it was Stockholm which would be far cooler (ti hi).

I found this on Discover

Seems they are being quite choosy about what gets presented. Their call but it leaves me wondering if my 'take' was crap or too un-cool to be part of their agenda?

With all due respect it is a bit cute but if you want to hear this sort of thing then go to 1981 and get John Foxx's "Metamatic" as that is/was a really futuristic record and did define a lot of later Techno

Learning to clear up a mix - Pickfair Drive
Interesting music. Lot of this sort of thing in the mid 80s as samplers and MIDI took over. Always lots to discover with multiple listens. Maybe it is just me but it feels like the mix isn't balanced, like it is heavier on the right. While that shouldn't matter, I'm finding it off-putting and I'm no...

How do I achieve a new wave vocal effect?
Yup, push your voice down so a Tenor sings as a Baritone (vital for Goth type stuff) and then sing over and over again. When Phil Spector started this as Wall Of Sound in the 60s he had the girls sing each take in a different accent to bring out different timbres in each track for really broad amoun...
