Reaktor like Rack extension designer

I have for long thought that a few additional modules in Reason could make it far more useful when programming combinators from a core level. Modules such as a unit delay, basical mathematical operators for all kind of signals and possibly some array modules. This can possibly be made by a RE progr...

Why do I feel so lost with almost every synth's but manage to do it all with subtractor ?

Because less is more....

The subtractor beats it all. Have yet to find a synth both inside Reason and in VST that is able to replace the subtractor.

What Mozart did is nothing really big to achieve with the right educational methods and the will of the human being. . Err.. sorry - but I will most definitely [/b] have to disagree with you there.  As a father of a young child who did not [/b] have the ability to compose their own work at the age ...

Is musical ability genetic?

What Mozart did is nothing really big to achieve with the right educational methods and the will of the human being. Through listening and understanding speech, human beings are able to discern frequencies with very small differences and most kids in school are even able to write down the words at o...

I was just trying to make a joke. I left university, because all the intellectuality for thensake of intellectuality was disturbing to me. Not that nothing relevant comes out of it, but I think if one really understands a problem and believes that it is worth a discussion, then there should be noth...

Not sure if you've seen, but the last 100 years has seen the introduction of behavioural psychology, which led to the cognitive science revolution, giving us a much more objective set of tools. Then add neurology to that. So erm, yes. What I do not understand is that my old sources already point to...

How could people with less information than we have available today not be less informed? I can't see that we have any more information today on the critical questions. Scientific findings do not develop in the same way as technology, so a new technology would not necessary give any new scientific ...

The early days of psychiatry was much less informed, was pre behaviourism, come on, you know this. No, because the impression I have got from reading historical sources on it is opposite. And not every condition is the same in how it can be misinterpreted. Mental disorders has a common possibility ...

That's no reason to ignore the observation of Aspergers. The classification makes significant ramifications that regardless of what future research philosophy you adopt, call by different names or whatever inarguably exist. Well, it looks like the earlier labels in the history of psychiatry have no...

Is musical ability genetic?

Working towards an exact definition is not always necessary to understand it. For decades we've spoken of games and video games without a workable formal definition that stands the test of scrutiny. It was only when Jesse Schelle took the liberty of trying to define what a game is that we were able...

It is most certain though, that nowadays is very difficult to try to prove and debate that our  "natural musical ability" runs through our veins from the moment we were conceived. Technology and all these music tools, that make it so easy for us to bang out a song in a few hours, are really making ...

But going back to the genetics, there is a classification of Asperger's syndrome that is believed / accepted to have a genetic factor. Be mindful of the dates. In what way? To understand the classification of Asperger syndrome one has to understand it's history. The classification used today is the one that Lorna Wing made the foundation for and which was released in the beginning of the 90's. This work of Lorna Wing was based upo...

Note: Aspergers syndrome is accepted as being genetically determined, and have on average a higher level of intelligence. To prove a connection between given abilities and genetics scientifically would be very hard since one easy run into the case of parallellism: The thesis is inteligible only because, by an unconscious trick of intellectual conjuring, we pass instantly from realism to idealism and from idealism to re...

The Non-Religious Thread about Discover Service

I posted this elsewhere, and I am kind of surprised no one commented or called me an idiot for it, but I found Propellerhead verbiage indicating Discover is possibly the first step towards a music distribution service. A la iTunes A la CDBaby A la etc. A la Presonus Nimbit ... I would not be surpri...

Steve Albini on the music industry

It looks like the very old problem of 'private' versus public performance. So first one must decide if their musical endeavour is 'private' or public. Given one take it as 'private' (as I prefer to do) there are still possibilities to deliver it public without breaking its private stance, and as 'pr...

When not hired for any projects, I seldom collaborate. My own music is for me a way to communicate philosophy and as such not something which at its basic work great with collaboration. Indeed, but the beauty of collaboration is that it's NOT your music! I find that getting out of my head and colla...
