My main R9 wants:

I use other DAWs and am happy enough to work outside of Reason for those tasks it doesn't handle all that well.

There's one thing, and one thing only, that I keep bumping up against and really wish they'd change: too few CV inputs in the Combinator. Four just isn't enough!

Synapse Fat Space In THE SHOP

^^^ Completely agree about RP Verb as the spaciest one on offer within Reason. First impressions about Fat Space: I haven't used it with any other FX yet but on it's own, seems like a device that does one thing very well. I love the simplicity of it and can definitely see myself using it, but for me...

Yeah fair enough, I'm just a midrange obsessive and usually end up taking the top off everything. I like my noise to be all grey and blankety, too much high end makes me anxious

I just picked up Strontium 90

Discovered a weird bug in it, though - the input & output is reversed.

Also, some of the presets won't load - no biggie, but that input/output thing is odd. Trying to email the developer but their site won't let me in.

experimental noise/ambient track

I like it a lot. My only comment would be that it could use a little thickening, whether through compression or distortion, maybe rolling off the high end a little - I find myself wishing it were more aggressive, more of a dense wall of sound. Might involve a tradeoff with some of that nice spatial ...

I just picked up Strontium 90

It really shows its quality with a bit of LFO action or slight automation on some of the parameters. Subtle but way fucking cool. And there's a free refill on the website with some excellent patches - along with a small but INSANE batch of Subtractor patches, all with a queasy RF vibe. Worth picking...

I just picked up Strontium 90

What a great device, it had passed me by initially but I took it for a spin this morning and fell in love. https://shop.propellerheads.se/product/strontium-90/ Reason isn't lacking in distortion devices, but this one is definitely out of the box. At first I thought "Oh OK, another 'metallic' effect"...

Top Acts with bad MIxing

I want to like The Smiths. Really, really want to like them. They've got so many elements that I love in pop music: chiming guitars, smart lyrics, simple arrangements, songs with real character. But their records sound so bad to me that I just can't get into them, all thin and weedy and trebly and l...

Top Acts with bad MIxing

The first Frank Black and the Catholics album is always a frustrating listen for me. Great songs, possibly the best thing he's done outside The Pixies imo. But the mix is so shit. It was recorded live to 2-track and the basic sound is great - really raw, just the sound of four guys in a room rocking...

Soundcloud is a wasteland

If you're looking for new music, get on to Twitter. All it requires is a bit of time searching out artists and labels to follow, then start checking out the recommendations or new releases that they're tweeting. Some of the stuff will be on Soundcloud, some on Bandcamp, some will be good old fashion...

Anyone just use a laptop for Reason?

YEAHHHH I'm about to upgrade to a new MB Pro with 2.8 GHz Intel quad core i7 (turbo boost up to 4 GHz), 16 GB of ram and flash drive. Looking forward to stacking on the Antidotes/Etch Reds/TSARs etc

Free MoPol Polyphonic CV Merger in the Shop

I guess what I'm not 100% sure about is the difference between
  • Logical AND of connected Gates 1-8
and
  • Logical OR of connected Gates 1-8
Seems like AND is the sum of the signals, but what about OR?

No manual? I get the basic idea of what this does, but it would be great to have a comprehensive rundown via manual or YouTube on how it works (and possible applications) in case I'm missing something.

Polar Uhbik-G ("Graindad") The Echo Neutron Audiomatic Echobode Synapse Ninety Chenille Inevitably, when I'm going for electro strangeness, I end up employing some combination of Polar and Graindad.  The Graindad can impart some really special weirdness to your audio when you incorporate LFO modula...

I need to go to RE-hab

My two cents...   I think some people have lost their way a bit. By all means if you are producing more music and better quality music well that is good. But unfortunately there is quite a number of people who have become so embroiled in collecting re's that they stop making as much music. Like ove...

What's your favorite creative effect in Reason?

looking to probably invest in the Uhbik-G. and maybe Etch Red. I trialed it a loong time ago and didn't notice that had a lot of creative potential, but after reading this thread, I'm getting convinced I love them both. Etch Red is a bit of a DSP killer but worth it anyway, while Uhbik G is wonderf...

*update* OK, so this thread has had over 100 views... and I'm the only one to chime in?  Isn't any body else interested in this thing??!  It looks bad ass! Woahhh that "Square ride" waveform is fucking insane for bass! I actually haven't used Antidote all that much because of CPU issues, but I'm about to upgrade the laptop and looking forward to some major improvements in processing power. Got a feeling this synth is going to be my new go-to for pretty...

Noxious 3.4 stars?

Hello guys, I would like to ask how big was the improvement of the performance of this synth after the updates? Can anyone answer if there are still patches which can change your PC to hot air oven ? I remember that when I was trialing the synth, it was too heavy on my PC. At the same time, origina...

Noxious 3.4 stars?

This is an amazing synth for strange atmospheric soundscapes. Of course strange atmospheric soundscapes might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I get beautiful weird evolving noise out of Noxious that I definitely can't get out of any other synth, including Parsec. Needs a bit of help from other dev...
