Re: Morphing between sound with a full range EQ?
I think he means a lowpass or highpass filter sweep to where the sound becomes inaudible. Pulveriser can do this.

Downgrading the project to 44.1 sounds ok, except it seems like the high end gets boosted? :? Re: Phasing issues when saving 96khz project as 44.1 audio file
I just got Waves' Aural Exciter the other day and had massive phasing issues when exporting at 44.1 which then completely disappeared at 96. Figured it was due to the plugin. Maybe not?

Sure, whatever suits the mix better is the best choice. Use a bloody SM57 in different positions just to try it. And yes, mono truly is gods gift to clean mixes.

Re: Level Gap in Big Meter
Getting the Big Meter on VU does eliminate them being there, but surely they have shown up for a reason. What do they mean? They display the absolute maximum value of a measured signal, ie the peak, which causes most clipping issues. They are not however indicative of what humans actually hear as v...

Re: Level Gap in Big Meter
Those are peak hold meters, not volume. Short peaks are often the real culprits when dealing with sound in digital systems. You do want to make sure they're not peaking because you will get distortion. To remove them just press the MODE button on the big meter until it says just VU.

I'm not arguing against that. There are many more interesting ways to absorb sound than just padding the walls.selig wrote:-snip-

Re: Recording booth advice
-snip- Indeed. Rooms with all parallell walls will have problems but always very predictable ones, and those can easily be wrestled into submission simply with ruthless application of absorbers. As for being too small for traditional concepts, I disagree. Their small size makes them directly respon...

Re: Recording booth advice
In agreement with Olivier. Odd or irregular shapes in a room often helps in preventing acoustic problems as long as no two surfaces are parallell to each other, and/or no room axes are multiples of each other. Avoid placing the mic in a corner or up against a wall, and you might even be better off t...

Depends entirely on what you're after. Analogue modelling or pure digital functionality? The bundled devices aren't to be underestimated either.

Re: Need some help... Synapse GQ-7 or Kuassa EVE-MP5?
I'd say that the opposite is true, that it's for colour and finish rather than small cuts. The saturation can be disabled, but the curves and controls arenĀ“t as obvious as in more precise EQs.

They do entirely different things. The GQ7 is a clean and precise surgical tool while the MP5 is a magic box with which to apply character and goodness. Which do you want?

If you're already having problems with just two hard panned instruments you might want to make sure your listening environment is proper. I have. No response yet. Attached is a small demonstration project.
The channels are exactly the same, save that Onyx 2 is set to Tape instead of Digital and its channel is phase inverted.

Onyx 430i Tube Limiter bug?
Turns out that Character II and III, Digital and Tape, are exactly the same. Two of them playing the same source material, with all parameters set the same except for character, and the second one being phase inverted they perfectly cancel. Tried at different threshold, bias and gain settings. Anyon...

The Pulverizer doesn't? I thought it did. May have to check it out still.
PMS-20, what I've been using, unfortunately does. Both with and without the RAGE switch on. It also comes with only one slope.

So I need a small rack unit without latency that can do tweakable high cuts and/or low cuts. Preferrably sexy-like.

Re: Meter in SSL mixer's Dynamics section
Exactly. It depends on what you're after. Why would I want to put the compressor on a crap signal? Fix it with inserts, compress it, then mix it. With the exception being, as you say, the master bus comp. I don't want the compressor to react to frequencies which will be cut anyway, though I guess th...
