Re: One for the guitar players-what guitar or fx create this sound
Misirlou. Good luck creating this tone digitally. I mean, you could find a guitar sample playing surf style cross pick, but the problem is the spring reverb IMHO. They get better every year, but digital spring verb just won't sound that alive or, well, springy. You might get close enough with someth...

Re: One for the guitarists
Sad News- You've picked one of the most difficult instruments to learn, so you might wanna realize that most people give up because of that. Your hand is gonna hurt, your fingers will hurt, and that will continue until you've developed calluses. Make sure you have the action set properly (strings se...

I formatted all my old Big Black cassettes into MP3's and Steve came over and threw frozen chickens at me. Re: Two new REs from 17 Frames (one free)
CV Quant is a pretty powerful device IMHO. I just spent an hour fiddling around and doing all the wrong things with a this and a PSQ-1645, and it scratches all my modular itches. Thank you, 17 Frames.

Re: Another reason for you to hate Waves
Their guitar stuff was enough for me to walk away from Waves after a quick test. Perfectly tepid, below average plugins for the money. IMHO, they try to do way too much and end up with average everything, so, Cherry Audio with a longer history.

Re: the new Instrument Rack is coming in May
RE's and VST's have given me everything I could possibly need, so a new synth isn't at the top of my needs list. No hate, I just hope it lives up to the hype, because it's pretty obvious they aren't too concerned about the DAW improvements right now.

Every BoC fan should have Phonec 2, by Psychic Modulation. Their FX are way good too. Also, cheaper than a Microfreak.

WBL5515 Dual Triple-Loop Osc for sure. If you combine that with Valhalla Supermassive, it controls the tides and generates zero point energy. Are you talking about this one? https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack-extension/wbl5515/ What kind of sound do you advise it for? I see it does RingMod. So...

My hope is that Macro can grow along with the hardware.

Mutable Instruments just did a final update for Plaits with some interesting new sounds. Here's to hoping our very favorite Macro eventually gets the upgrade too.

Hardly ever, but I will say this- I heart the Basic Round Thor patch out of the FSB, and throwing SuperMassive onto a Subtractor pad is like shocking them back to life.

None.
If I want the VST in my rack then I'll use the VST. I'd prefer if RE's keep doing their own thing and use the format to its strengths with lots of CV options. That said, I'd love some of the VCV sequencers in RE form, and more Mutable Instruments type stuff like Macro.

While most people agree that RS needs to get back to working on the DAW, I'd love to see live streams of people just improving and jamming like the old days again, making all types of music and not just the music influencer they think is hip. I want to see Venus Theory making music, not talking in a...

Re: Torsion Texture Lab, what do you use it for?
I love Torsion, and get everything from spaced out drones to the craziest of textured sounds. Lately, I've been putting ham radio recordings through it for insane speech glitch awesomness. It's a wonderful sound design tool, but it all depends on what you feed it if you want something musical.

Re: Amplitube or Guitar Rig?
I don't record the usual metal guitar tones, and so my needs have always been a bit different. I'm always looking for good sounding spring verbs, and well, digital just ain't there yet, and so I broke down and am now running through an actual verb tank before the computer. Guitar Rig lost me after 4...

While purchasing cab IR's is the easiest way to get them, there are a handful of great FREE IR loaders out there in VST land. No need to pay for anything like that unless they come with some cabs that you like. I use the awesomesauce NadIR loader from Ignite Amps, and all my favorite Fender IR's to ...

I'm with you on this. I'd love to see Reason get more modular. Why, just today I was thinking about making a burst generator combi, and it made me wonder why there aren't other modular type devices in RE form. I'd insta buy things like Turing Machine modules, and yeah, I know the PSQ has one because...

Re: Which of your REs have you (pretty much) never used?
I generally like to use all of my REs, but there is one that has been banned from my rack- Scope Jr. I'll never forget the feeling I had to finally have a scope in Reason, loading that onto my codemeter, and then having my heart ripped out with disappointment. It's soooo frickin bad, and probably mo...
