Re: The morning after & killing your darlings

Totally been there many times but last night was the opposite. I was finishing a song to send it to Benedict for mixing and up so late getting pissed and wondering why I even bother with music but when I woke up and listened I was shocked at how good it sounds! That's rare.. probably the first time ...

Hobbies are expensive. Life would be boring without them. We all need something to live for, to make us forget (at least occasionally) that we are corporate slaves.
The eye of the pyramid is watchful.

Re: When was the last time you heard a synth (or anything else) produce sounds you'd never heard before?

Agree. I don't hear new synths but I do hear new sounds made from vintage 80's synths. What makes it new in my opinion is chorus, clean delays, glitching, filtering, unison-type doubling, short high frequency reverb.. fx mostly. It's a modernized version of retro synths. And I love it! I think it al...

Re: Tricked out vocals

Fritz is awesome but too rich for my blood right now. Is there another vocal chopper RE on the cheaper side? Been looking thru the shop which is kind of a mess trying to find certain things.

Tricked out vocals

What's the best RE or way to do it? I don't have any examples per say right now but you guys know what I mean hopefully. Where the vocals are normal but then glitch out at the beginning or end of a word or phrase. I'm looking for a way or tool to do all the different vocal tricks with. Thanx in adva...

Total XM chill stuff. Downtempo and relaxing. I call this kinda stuff electrojazz.. if that's a thing. I've recently developed a taste for this genre.

Re: (Electro-Acoustic) Out Of Step

As much as I like traditional 4/4 music I always get a kick out of swing and time changes. You did a good job on that. It kept my interest and I agree it could use some drum fills to transition the changes.
Cool stuff!

Re: (Chiptune DnB) - Trapped

OK I'm in the 8 bit game world. Sometimes I don't know how else to feel with music like this other than the plain fact it sounds like a game. Ouch there was something in that lead synth on the left with a very high (felt like 20kHz) frequency that poked my eardrum like a needle. Cool tune nonetheles...

Plenty of dissonance here. Wow it really opens up on the change. Cool wub bass. I honestly felt like I was at the circus on acid.

Re: [Electro/Rock]Sea Strom In Summer

Great energy. Lots of cool stuff on the beat. It's not so much rock as electronic. Yeah, electronic all the way. I feel like I'm playing a Sega game and time keeps speeding up so I gotta hurry up and beat the level before I die. At the same time I also (because of that creepy cool storm picture) fee...

Right off the bat I can tell this is gonna be good. You set the mood with a killer intro. Nice warm toned instruments. Deep but not overpowering bass and sweet fx. I can totally hear this playing on XM chill. I'm a fan of glitched out tricked out shit like this. Well played.

Re: (Noisy Rock) Like Life's Like

Whoa the bass has some heavy low end! I'd dip it about 200Hz. Great guitars and vocals. I think you should EQ down the guitars around 2.5kHz though. They're really sharp and piercing there. For me it feels like a mess of frequencies at times. Like a diamond in the rough. But it has a cool Beatles vi...

God I love automated synths. Going from stab-mute to all out growly havoc. Nice. This is a cool instrumental. Now the "solo" lead part was weird but that grew on me quick. Yeah I totally dig the bass and minimal beat. When it all plays together in the last half it turns sorta muddy. No big...

Re: These Waves (rock that is funk-ish?)

Listening on Yamaha HS5's. Sounds good overall but here's my observation: Clean bold bass, snare could come down just a cunt hair, laid back song, but when the distorted guitar kicks in yeah vocals almost blur away. Song is too short and suddenly ends but still a nice song. One tip--pitch edit can f...

Feels too slow. Oh I see you did that on purpose. The stabs sound really close. I like how you orchestrated a good song. I always love to hear that. There's a symphony album version of every Nirvana song floating around the world somewhere. Love it. Man you put some thought and heart into this. Swee...

Is this drone music? I thought it would change notes by now. Gotta say it's a cool sound. Fitting name.

For cheap MIDI synth (strings mostly and I've never gotten them to sound good either) it's a refreshing tune. Also after a hard day's work and being in trouble all day with bossman on my tail crackin' the whip lol.
Very peaceful. Thanx

Re: All made in Reason 9

Pad creeps in setting the mood. Back & forth percussion adds curious tension. Kick then makes sense of the percussion. Big synth enforces the otherworldly club mood. Gets really fucking cool with the single note stabs and weird fx. Whole thing turns into a full melody playing together, then back...
