Re: How Well Can You Hear Audio Quality?

I`ve difficulty of detecting much of a difference either. It`s all about the gear. THings would get more evident if you listen trough a good digital to analog converter device hooked up to studio monitors (even though they all sound super differently, if you can get access to a room with some adam m...

Do you know of a FLAT curve SPL meter, weighted Z? All I`ve seen have C or A and I`ve seen one including Z, but its far to hi end in price and features.

Sampling artists, would they hunt me down?

Maan, smtimes I get ideas for making hiphop beats using short tweaked sample (as it is normal for that kind of music) from other songs, so I`m asking like what should I do if I want to put that stuff for sale, can I just ask them for written permission via their website or should I deal with mess of...

Selling my music

My take on selling music is this - side income . It is entertainment and it requires creative mood - not forcing things up. Sometimes you might lack creativity and it is best to take a rest when that happens.  https://s3.amazonaws.com/files.websitetoolbox.com/177147/2325866   You must plan on how to...

The Big meter Vu, PPM and Peak

The L2 limiter has a very nice approach of maintaining the same volume of the song while limiting it in order to hear clearly where the sweet spot is - after that you can safely crank up the volume for a louder mix. It`s pretty easy process.

The Big meter Vu, PPM and Peak

Wouldn't plus 6 on the Vu scale involve a lot of clipping?  unless your using a maximizer.
Yes, I use maximizer at the mastering stage.

I don`t know whether newer versions of reason can automatically detect the loudest peak in a given mix, but such feature would also come in handy.

The Big meter Vu, PPM and Peak

I use the default meter, looking at the VU scale, drive it to about plus 6 dB and then use my ears to make the final volume adjustment. (speaking about the mastering stage).

The difference between peak and ppm is the speed of the release.

Rapper's Delight...

I may quote the poet now:

I find the company policies way too blundery and unpredictable to be worth further investing in it.
