Reason 10.4d4 / NI Maschine VSTi (2.8.5)
Hey guys, I have a quick question.. I have been working on a project today and ran into an issue I have not seen happen before. Essentially its a small project I have primarily used Thor's for but for drums I was using my Maschine VST software (I have done this a million times). Anyways, I had to re...

Re: Reason 10 / Reaper 5 ReWire Issue
Ah ha. I ended up having to make sure it was uncheck to use with reason and then also be sure and activate Record Monitoring inside Reaper on the Reason Rewire channel. Thank you!

Re: Reason 10 / Reaper 5 ReWire Issue
Yeah I know how to get rid of the delay by arming Reason, but the problem is, if I leave Reason unarmed and lets say I have Zebra armed inside Reaper, when I try laying down a melody/midi notes via keyboard, it triggers Reason's devices as well which is completely annoying. If I delete the Midi devi...

Reason 10 / Reaper 5 ReWire Issue
It's been forever since I have ran this setup but today I opened up a new project and decided to run in rewire mode with Reason as the slave. The issue is that when I unarm reason in reaper it will play whatever instrument I have up in reason (with about a second delay). As if Reason is still gettin...

Reason 10.1 & NI Maschine
Has anyone noticed no matter where you set the loop points inside Reason the very first note of the loop doesn't get triggered with Maschine? But if you completely stop the song and hit start, the first note will register and play inside Maschine? This was a bug fixed in 9.5.2, see https://www.prop...

Re: Reason 10.1 & NI Maschine
I have heard of this. Trust me, Maschine is just fine. When the inventors of ReWire get it wrong, I'm not sure what to tell you. Very true.. I suppose I thought this would react different considering I have Maschine opened and running as a VST within R10 instead of running it in standalone mode. Se...

EKG Monitor Sound (Help)
Hey guys, I am trying to help a friend out who is currently working on a video. He asked if I could make him an EKG sound (heart beat monitor). I listened to one I found via youtube and essentially recreated it via Thor, however, when I go to make the flatline sound it's just not sounding right. I c...

Re: At the production level - mindful of headroom?
Thank you all for the responses. I needed that affirmation! I have come to realize I have been over thinking the recording/production phase. Obviously I do not want my tracks to clip, but being overly critical of -10 dbfs because it's sitting at -6dbfs has caused me too much extra work when it wasn'...

At the production level - mindful of headroom?
I have been having trouble getting a straight forward understanding as to when you should be mindful of your levels for headroom. Anytime I google for headroom tips I am always greeted with mixing/mastering tutorials/tips. What about at the production level?! What is the golden rule whenever you are...

Scream 4 - Tape phase invert?
Hello everyone, I have been doing quite a bit of parallel processing here lately and I am noticing that when I use the scream 4 tape setting it's sounding strange. I have googled this issue and I've been seeing posts about the signal needing to be inverted? Can someone explain the correct way to use...

Parallel Compression Phase issues
Hey everyone, just curious how you guys handle the phase issues when doing some parallel bus compression? I'm using stock MC class devices and when the volume is at unity for both channels (dry and parallel channels) the volume decreases pretty significantly. Anyone here have the right method to use...

Re: Saturation Knob on Electronic Drums?
You know recently I began to be much more volume matching conscious. What I have decided to do is take Selig's Gain RE and throw it in at every stage of a setup. For example a kick drum I will route the audio out in Kong on a kick drum to a mixer channel of its own (for precise eq/comp processing). ...

Re: R9 - Bounce in Place error
It may seem something silly but the only time in 16 years of using Reason where I saw a write error (something similar to your situation) is simply because I've finished 'hard drive space or the hard drive was damaged. Are you sure you have enough space? Have you tried doing a bounce in place of th...

R9 - Bounce in Place error
Hey everyone, recently I upgraded to R9 which I'm loving. I have a pretty heavy project I'm working on so I synced up my two computers to spread out the load. Anyways, on my laptop I loaded up R9 and threw over the over bearing project and copied some instruments and midi and pasted it over on the "...

Reason/Ableton Link vs Reason/Ableton ReWire Perf.
Hello all, Over the last few weeks I've noticed something somewhat interesting that I wanted to point out. Currently I have a project I am working on utilizing both Reason and Ableton. Originally (didn't have the 9.0 upgrade yet therefore I was using R8) I built this song running in Rewire mode. Ess...

McIntosh Hardware/Software routing help..
Hey everyone, years ago (late 80's) my father worked for his uncle whom owned a high end audio store. At the time he purchased a McIntosh system which he still has. I pulled out the preamp just for fun and had the idea of running my sounds from Reason into the preamp and then back into reason to rec...

I apologize for being completely off topic here, but Enoch we literally have the EXACT same specs.. Asus sabertooth z77, i7 3770k, windows 10, RME Babyface pro and clearly Reason. What are the chances!!? Hah! No worries. It was a good build several years ago, and I'm still getting mileage out...

Re: Link is da bomb!
@chimp_spammer oh ok so you can't actually sequence performances in Reason. I guess going by your method you can play VSTs in Ableton synced with Reason playing at the same time then bounce audio in Ableton and import it into the Reason sequencer. This might be a very effective way to now get VSTi ...

Top to bottom or bottom to top FX/Instrument placement
Really random question I wanted to ask..I'm curious how many of you go like to "chain" your instruments starting from top to bottom vs the bottom to top way. It doesn't matter at all obviously, other than personal preference. I have for whatever reason ALWAYS made my signal chain go from the top to ...

Rack Overview Bar (top right section)
This is an FYI feature I just discovered today. Forgive me if this is common knowledge to all! Re: VU Meters: What for??
I know that selig has done about a million thread responses on this already, so you can search by author "selig" and look for "VU" to get a bajillion results. But I can give this a try in the mean time. VU basically means the average loudness of a given sound. So when you open the spectrum analyzer...
