Re: Does the GUI matter to you?
It somewhat matters. But really depends. If it actually looks like garbage, I probably won't use it, but I'm happy with most designs, even though a lot of people like to complain. It's of course better if the GUI looks inviting, motivates me to just start using it. The same way a clean room would in...

Re: What Features Reason has and others DAWs do not have?
The intuitive workflow. This is not really a "Feature", more so a thing I like about it. I've tried some other DAWs, but I was never able to really feel like I'm in control. When I want to do something in Reason, I know how. When using another DAW, I don't even know how to do something simple like s...

Drop Collab Thread
I'm surprised nobody made something like this already. What I basically want to do, is make a song with the whole community, using Propellerhead Discover. My plan is, that we decide on a genre we want to make, then someone starts a song by making one element that would fit into the genre, then uploa...

Re: Parallel processing question.
Why didn't anyone mention Scream 4 yet? I really like using it with the tape setting, to give drums some more punch. It doesn't really sound good when there are hi hats playing, but I usually have those on a different bus from my kicks and snares anyways. Oh, flip the phase, so you compensate for th...

Re: Top 20 DAW ! Reason is 9th
How many times have I seen polls like these before, and how many times was FL Studio #1? I don't get how anyone is still taking these Top 20/10/whatever lists seriously, as the ranking will always be similar. Even though the title of the website says "Top 20 best DAWs", we all know it means "Top 20 ...

Re: Rediscovering the joy of Reason!
Reason is, in my eyes, the most creative DAW you can get. Everything else I tried was just kinda in my way when trying to make music, because most DAWs have their plugins inside windows, which I find really confusing. Also, crashes. Reason almost never does it. Also, with all those new Rack Extensio...

Re: Subtractor Dying Poor old thing ' need's a RADICAL UPDATE !!!!!
This is either because your expectations change and/or Masking as the freqs from other instruments in the mix will be different so the overall sound of that sound appears to change. Psycho-acoustics is either a PITA or a great ally. I prefer to make it the latter. I actually mean it the way I said ...

Re: Subtractor Dying Poor old thing ' need's a RADICAL UPDATE !!!!!
I've noticed something like that as well. I once made a bass patch, which had a sound I like. Whenever I load up the project file I've used this patch in, it sounds the same, but when I load up the same patch in another project file, it sounds different. I'm pretty sure that's what OP meant.

Re: Yamaha PSR48 Drum Kit
I'd like to figure out what synthesis engine it was using. (An OPL derived FM chip, and ADPCM sample rhythm chip?) As far as I know, it's using something called DASSystem. The PSR 48 uses a sound generation method called 'Dual Architectural Synthesis System (DASS); a hybrid 2 operator Frequency Mod...

everybody says to me that faturator is awesome , I never tryed it so I wonder what guys are using it for most of the times ?!!? Stereo enhancment for me, so good for making the top end of basses sound fatter. I've used it on this song on the high pitched bass in the drop, if you want to know what i...

Re: Does Reason have proper multicore support?
Thanks for sharing. I guess Reason really does just ignore hyperthreads (or whatever it is called on AMD processors).ScuzzyEye wrote: I had a dual Six Core Opteron workstation. 12 cores total, without shared FPUs. The last good CPU AMD made. Reason would render on 11 of the 12 cores.

Re: Does Reason have proper multicore support?
Does anyone here have an older processor that doesn't use shared FPUs or hyperthreading (and has 6 or more cores)? Because I'd like to know if the same thing will happen on these CPUs. To be fair, many apps still are not built to make use of multiple cores. Especially applications like Reason should...

Re: Tuning: 432 vs 440 - An Interesting Article
I still don't get what this is even supposed to do. Is it supposed to be "healthier" or something? Because that's what I get from the article. Even though music production is all about minor things, I really don't think this matters in any way. I tried some experiments a while back where I tuned som...

Re: Does Reason have proper multicore support?
You may want to Google the processor fpu count etc for the cores . Might give some clue to how it's all working in regards to audio and how reason works too. Was argued to death on PUF way back if I remember pity that info never got saved .......... Forgot to mention one of the cores reserved to th...

Does Reason have proper multicore support?
So I've been wondering about the multicore support in Reason. I am currently using the latest Version (8.3), but I can't seem to get Reason to use more than 3 cores. Take a look at this screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/RinfnUK.png This shows that Reason is only using 3 cores. I've got multicore audio ...

Do you think your drums don't sound cheap enough? This one might be for you then! Okay, let's be serious. I found this old Yamaha Keyboard and sampled it. This Patch doesn't contain all the samples this keyboard has, but the best ones are on there. For some reason, I couldn't find the drum samples t...

Noxious 3.4 stars?
Well, it can make decent sounds, but I couldn't get my head around it. It's really confusing to use to be honest.
I tried making something but I couldn't manage to come up with anything, since this synth just confuses me. If you're good at using it, use it.
