Re: Idea; ReTracker! Or maybe TrackRe?

I feel dumb but what are trackers? Trackers were the "DAWs" in the 80ies on home computers like Atari ST, Amiga and even C64 (?) where you could sequence a song with samples or sound chip. I assume the name came from 3, 4 or more tracks aligned vertically. Each track is kind of a voice. On each tra...

Re: Idea; ReTracker! Or maybe TrackRe?

As long as the current sdk does not capture the keyboard events there will be no convenient way to handle a tracker on the Re platform, it's a shame. Yeah I think you may be right. The only way it'd work is if the step controls were remote controlled, but then it'd rely on the user having a control...

Re: Midi mapping Player patterns

I would use Aftermath Audio’s CV8X4 and Robotic Bean’s CV Select Switch. Both are free. Put your Drum Sequencer inside a Combinator. Route the CV output of the CV Select Switch to a Combinator CV input, set that input to unipolar, and use that input to control the Drum Sequencer Pattern select. Con...

Re: No more NDA!

Oki, reading and reading. Already found some interesting things concerning me an my Remote/StepSequencer mania. There is no limit of remotable items which makes me wonder why many devices are not complete in that area, given that it seems to be straight forward assingning a remote item to a motherb...

Re: No more NDA!

so with all those open-source vst code, now we can create rack extensions? :) very nice, only need to learn Python Note quite. Python is just used to run the build/compile process on your local system. For actual coding you need C++ and LUA for non-IDT devices or the Gorilla Scripting Language for ...

Re: No more NDA!

Just downloaded the SDK and checked the zip but i couldnt finde any documentation of sorts. In the Documentation Folder in the SDK Folder there is only a text file called "acceptance_testing_checklist.txt". The docs are now available as web pages. Maybe the pdfs docs are not relevant or updated any...

Re: Latency bug (?) of SSL Send FX using Mix channels

Maybe you have feedback loop. Can you check change of setting in Preferences -> Audio -> Render Audio Using Audio card buffer size. If you switch it off, does it change anything? See article https://help.reasonstudios.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019449434-Some-sounds-are-out-of-sync-in-Reason-10-3-and-...

Holding <Alt> while clicking on the up/down arrows should do the trick. It transposes the notes of all sequencers at once.

Re: Weird crackle issue............

I had kind of the same issue out of the sudden since 2 days and with ASIO driver only. And it turned out that the most recent big Windows 10 update resetted my Power and Energy save Settings to balanced. Switching that back to High Performance solved the issue. That stupid accumulative update total...

Re: Sequences from Robotic Bean - 1.2 is out!

Yes, I think the cleanest approach would be a separate device since would also allow to cleanly map the channel selection in the combinator programmer. "Select pattern" CV socket on the back of Sequence :) Yes, then we´d stay in the "CV realm" and need no combinator at all for Sequences. For other ...

Re: Sequences from Robotic Bean - 1.2 is out!

No, the Select in/out jacks have to work the other way around if they are supposed to work with Pattern REs "out of the box", since the Pattern Select property's range is [Off, 1, 2, 3, .., 8). So Select in will select "off" when the CV value is < 0. In that case the workaround for me would be to s...

Re: Sequences from Robotic Bean - 1.2 is out!

Out of necessity (backwards compatibility), the "Off" position comes after channel 8 on Select, which you will see when you automate it. But it's of course mapped to negative CV values so that it plays nicely with all 8-pattern devices, at least the ones I have: Sequences and Drum Sequencer. I´m th...

oh yes! i'm demoing sequences right now and will buy it, this sequencer is like a dream come true for live performing, when i change patterns they change instantly, is there a setting to make the pattern change at the end of the sequence, click the button on another pattern and the pattern doesn't ...

Re: Scenic!!!

I totally appreciate your workflow choice, and it obviously gets you results. I have to disagree from my point of view tho: How many performance controls are actually available from the front panel of scenic? I doubt it is more than the combinator. So if your combinator is set up properly you would...

Re: Scenic!!!

Your sound design is nice! Sounds lush, would work well in Blade runner 2049 or something. But you could easily build this sound with stock devices. And they would have sample loading. Put 'em in a combinator and you would have a "super scenic" available anytime for no extra cost. Thanks. That is t...

Re: Upgradability Scoring - Is it worth it to me?

I´m in the same boat. I haven´t upgraded either (I´m on R10). I can afford the upgrade financially but there is just not that much that convinces me needing it. While I think providing the rack as a VST to other DAW users (former Reason users) makes sense to bring these users back to Reason and incr...

When I first skipped through the presets some weeks ago I wasn´t expressed. As others pointed out the presets do the device no justice. Artotaku: How about if you render a bar of 4 kick drums, and then use the 2nd kick drum in the pattern. That's what I do, for just the reason you describe. Re: Accuracy of Reason's waveform display in sequencer

Not directly related to the OP´s question but if you render a Redrum clip of a kick sample the rendering process of the audio cuts away the start of the transient of the very first kick. It depends on the kick sample material, though. I´ve the assumption that it only happens for kick samples with a ...

It cannot be cheesy enough ;-)

Re: Reason 11’s GUI improvements?

I’m on a MP 5.1 running Mojave and the difference between R11 and R10 is quite noticeable: R11’s GUI is more responsive and just feels snappier, for e.g. scrolling in the rack is super fast now without having to use “low resolution” like in R10. I didn’t see any mention of this in the release notes...
