Controlling Reason with your feet!
It’s been a while I was thinking of freeing my hands while working in my DAW of choice: Propellerhead’s Reason. No telepathic device being available yet, I reflected on how I could use my feet! Christmas arrived… and at the bottom of the tree was something waiting for me: a MIDI foot controller that...

Re: Video tutorial for routing multi-out VSTs in Reason (Kontakt 5 with Studio Drummer)
Wow Red, I should request from NI for a % on their sales    ! I only had the time to explore Reason with Kontakt: July / August (and a little in January / February) are my music composition months usually, I usually roll out a bunch of tracks for sale in September / October. That’s to...

Re: Video tutorial for routing multi-out VSTs in Reason (Kontakt 5 with Studio Drummer)
Oh, When thinking about it this morning, I realized I forgot to add something: When you change instrument (option D), i.e. by dragging and dropping a drum kit from another instrument (for example in the pic above Modern Drummer instead of studio drummer), the mike arrangement might change for this s...

Re: Video tutorial for routing multi-out VSTs in Reason (Kontakt 5 with Studio Drummer)
Hi Redster, Thank you for the kind words :-) Interesting question, I checked it out. Look at the following pic, A,B,C and D are different operations I carried out and observed what would be happening to the internal routing in Kontakt. Kontakt1.jpg If you change the drum Kit (operation A): It will r...

Video tutorial for routing multi-out VSTs in Reason (Kontakt 5 with Studio Drummer)
Hi Guys, Like many of you, I have started to explore Reason’s ultra exciting new feature: VST Support. I remember what I felt when I heard the news a few weeks ago: it felt like Party!!!! Yesterday, finally, I had time for some action and jumped into this new creative unknown. So I started to check ...

Re: Elementary Logic Gates is in the shop
May Madness is here, so time for some new device exploration!
This device, elementary, seems quite interesting. I checked the video.
Now that it has been out for a while, how do you guys (users) feel about it. Have you posted any music out there that uses it?

Re: Is Propellerheads Balance still worth it?
I won one at a composition contest 3-4 years ago, so didn't have to purchase it .
Has been in my studio as my main soundcard since. Works perfectly up to now, without a single glitch.

Re: Reason for Orchestral and heavy midi work
A couple of years ago, I wanted also to produce orchestral stuff with Reason... I produced a bunch of pieces, some even sold well as Royalty Free, but I was quite unsatisfied with what I could achieve, comapred to what was out there. So I bought and learned another DAW (I chose one with Video Sync) ...

Re: i think the prices of REs are going to be going up soon
RE are still tied down. The great thing about VSTs is I can bring them in any VST compatible DAW making them more valuable. That is why I stopped buying RE. I don't like the rewire workflow. So my RE are stuck in reason while my VSTs aren't allowed in reason. Now that I can bring my VSTs into reaso...

Re: Last time you purchased an RE? Will you still support REs?
I will definitely continue using and purchasing REs even if the VST supports proves to be fantastic and stable. If I understand well, there will be a module (Serum) that acts as interface, and the VST will show up in an exterior window. That just adds a layer of complexity that could slow down the w...

Re: Mixing in Reason
I actually do all my mixing in Reason, and export, and then I master outside with Ozone. Mastering: I could master inside with Ozone maximiser, a multiband compressor (there is an RE for that but I do not know if it's good - I would actually use the FET compressor after having separated the bands wi...

Re: Piano Not Cutting Through the Mix
The solution: Frequency selective side chain compression. Basically, each time the piano plays, you compress automatically the other instruments that play in the same range of frequencies. But when you do that, you only cut their spectra in the same frequency range that your piano uses. Then it is u...

Re: Using dual screens on Reason 9
My whole production studio is based on Reason, and I use three screens! One for each main window (Mixer, Seq and Rack).
By setting a template, Reason automatically opens with each full screen
It is so advantageous in terms of workflow: everything that is going on is in front of my eyes!

Re: At the production level - mindful of headroom?
Hi there, while recording, as you say yourself, you are not mixing. If it is audio (guitar, vocals etc), just get the highest signal to noise ratio. For that record at maximum level without clipping. 1/ Set the output of your instrument at max, 2/ Adjust the input recording level so that it peaks be...

Re: Reason 9.5 – VST in Reason
I was so excited when I read the news a few days ago, a nearly twisted my ankle dancing around the house! I had to get used to Digital Performer so I could explore VST instruments, but I always came back to Reason - just a question of workflow: When I compose, I just hate when technical issues distu...

here one song with an oldschool EDM vibe , having some fun to make some patchs with the Vecto
Trippy track - I truely enjoyed that! Too much on my plate to explore the Vecto this week, but after hearing what you did here, I can't wait to put my hands on this sweet synth in a week or two!
