Re: (Electronic / Super Audio Cart) - Follow My Lead

Great melody. Lovely full-sounding production. I really like the harmonies and fade around 2.17. Out of curiosity, are you a keyboard player? It feels like, listening to this. Thanks  Not really a keyboard player, but I can see why you'd think that as this song is very synth lead heavy. ...

(Electronic / Super Audio Cart) - Follow My Lead

I haven't spent time with Reason in quite some time now. This is the first track I've done this year. The most prominent instrument in this track is Super Audio Cart. It's used for the main lead, bass, pads, kick and snare. I might go back and make smaller tweaks to the mix and arrangement later on,...

Nice soundscape. Definitely has a "earthy" feel to it. I can also sense a feeling of unease.

Re: What did you just buy yourself?

I bought my second Udu drum. This particular model is called Udongo. It's a rather weird one but I like it. https://thumbs.static-thomann.de/thumb/padthumb600x600/pics/bdb/_23/234339/10128595_800.jpg They look cool. With all these new instruments will we perhaps see a Tritone perc refil...

Re: You know what the whole problem is nowadays about making music?

The hard part is putting together a full track that's interesting to listen to from start to finish. And this is exactly what I could do when I was just using an Amiga or a W30. Or early Reason. I just can't do it anymore. I get distracted by the whole plethora of instruments and whatnot. You could...

Re: You know what the whole problem is nowadays about making music?

I mean if ones goal is to just make a decent sounding loop, then sure it might not be very hard with current tools. The hard part is putting together a full track that's interesting to listen to from start to finish. Like Selig said you can choose your own preferred method of creating music. There's...

Re: Producing through "mastering" chain?

I always start a song "clean" whithout anything on the master. But I typically add stuff like masterbus compression and a limiter once the song starts to take form. I might adjust the settings along the way when I'm working on a song. I know there are different opinions on the matter, but this is th...

Re: Learning a new instrument

Just bought myself one of these. It's called an Udu drum. It's really fun to play.

Man I'm gonna have to a break from all the instrument purchases for a while. It's getting out of hand. :P

Re: Do you get a lot of use out of the Reason players?

As far as players go, the two that has gotten the most use for me are Beatmap and Evolution. But I typically only use what they give me as a starting point and then I tweak, make variations and turn it into my own thing.

Re: Learning a new instrument

A little update  Got myself an ocarina about a week ago. So now I have a small collection of new instruments. I spent quite a bit of money on all these, but I have zero regrets. I'm having so much fun with them and I switch between them constantly. Having never played a wind instrument be...

Re: Kalimba Practise :)

I got a little kalimba once and soon gave up - sampled it and use it all the time now! Your playing is nice and even, something I struggled with. My main problem is like with guitar, I really needed to build up some callouses to play more than a few minutes at a time! I have a producer friend with ...

Kalimba Practise :)

Some of you may have seen it in another thread I posted. I've bought myself some new instruments. One of them is a kalimba. I've just felt a sudden urge to play some physical acoustic instruments. And specifically instruments that I've never played before. I've tried to practise a bit here and there...

Re: (House/techno/trance) melancholy

Nice track Popey. I like the atmosphere/mood of the track. I do think it has a slightly melancolic feel to it. The only thing I didn't care for was the vocals, but that's just personal preference. I don't mind the notes themselves, I just can't seem to into the overly pitched vocal production style...

Yeah I certainly had no plans to buy a new instrument at that price originally. An instrument I have no prior experience with. Not sure I can justify it completely. But I have the money. And I want it. So I figured, fuck it let's just buy it. You only live once. I reckon you should enti...

Re: Learning a new instrument

Well, you can DIY one for far less money if you're willing to invest the time instead. e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVedQwbduQ0 Unless you already have the proper tools needed I suspect it won’t be much cheaper. Especially after all the inevitable trial and error. But I can certainly see th...
