Re: (metal, experimental) Urwissenschaft (Bloma/Ereignis split)

Very briefly near the beginning the big sound reminded me of My Bloody Valentine's Sueisfine, which I love, but it soon became nothing like it. Good and different.

(Alt Rockish) All Art

So what drives people to make music and art, and write books, etc? And I don't really mean people in the modern world, but humans in general - from cave paintings to MP3s. I make some suggestions in this song but I'd be interested to know what you think. I remixed this song over the weekend; I origi...

Re: (Electronica) The River

I half enjoyed it! My favourite bit was when it dropped down and then crashed back in at about 4 minutes. I had to turn it down before that though because everything seemed too upfront - I wondered if too much compression would give that effect - there didn't seem to be any room in the music for me,...

Re: (Ambient Electronic) Time to Leave

Thanks Pete I really wanted to Brass to have a striking and strident feel so while the notes are essentially Legato, the filter makes it front-heavy. If you are suggesting Portamento then maybe it would work. I can't recall if I tried it here. However I must say I am not always a fan of Porta. If I...

Re: (Ambient Electronic) Time to Leave

Some powerful sounds. I think although the sort of trumpety lead is melodic, the notes sound a bit random. Maybe if it was more legato, you know slid from note to note, instead of jumping, it would suit the music better too, especially in the first half when it's only playing in front of the pads. L...

Re: (Acid Jazz)Uneasy Listening

https://soundcloud.com/per-anders/uneasy-listening Yeah, suffering from a headache tonight, so had to go a little more mood oriented this time. I like the plaintive, moody parts. I can't imagine the noisy chords and lead were much good for your headache - I reckon if you replaced them with softer, ...

Re: (Drum sample and guitars) Pilot Light

No way I can't figure where that drum samples is from sounds like EZ-Drums. Idk haha. Loving the guitar and bass interaction. I am not crazy about the voice. Yet, that's my sole opinion. Thanks for the feedback, Hoyos. The £1 prize for identifying the drum sample remains unclaimed then; no, it's no...

Re: (80s vibe synthpop)Our World

I wasn't expecting that sudden tempo change near the beginning! The tempo change combined with the other sections being quite different from one another makes it sound like a bit of an opera to me. I don't know if you consider that a good thing.

Re: [EDM?] Reason

My favourite part is the big musical vacuum cleaner-type sound from about 1'10 and 2'10. I like the fact that the initial chords are jumping to where I'm not expecting them to go, but the downside of that is that it doesn't sound very musical, which is fine if you don't want the masses to sing along...

(Drum sample and guitars) Pilot Light

After three Reason-less weeks over Christmas and the new year, I finally got round to finishing the 12th of my one-a-month songs for 2016. There's a prize of one pound sterling for the first person to name the origin of the drum sample (winner collects). Personally, I don't think there are enough so...

Re: (House, Deep) Mix feedback

For your info: I'm listening on a Mac's speakers, and I don't know the original song. The bass sounds a bit too prominent to me - it sounds a bit too repetitive and uninteresting to be so upfront. But as a dance track I suppose that might not matter so much.

Re: (Trap/HipHop) It's A Trap

I think it would be easy enough for someone to rap over. If you did have someone rapping over it, it would give you more of an idea of where to put in all the fills - the drum rolls, etc. could punctuate the rap. Have you recorded a vocal track? If not, I think if you added one yourself it would hel...

Re: (World/Reggae)It's all the same

Another upbeat one from you! I think it might be difficult to get the bass huge because of its relatively high speed. Maybe if you simplified the bass (replaced every four notes with just one, for example) you could fatten it up without it taking over.

Re: City Fortress - Video

Nice sounds. The song works well with the video, but since I've never been to Berlin I wanted the film to slow down or even go in slow motion. I liked the bit of black and white backward video, and the snake-dancing tower, too. As you can see, I couldn't help concentrating on the video instead of th...

Re: (Psychadelic Rock)The Daydream

My favourite bit was the repeating guitar at about 1'24. As you wrote, it sounds like you had fun doing it. I think it needs some singing or a more prominent lead instrument throughout to complete it.

I don't mean to beat this idea, but some of the best jazz ever recorded was in a dinner-set environment. Look up "Smokin' At The Half Note" you can hear dinner plates and glasses clinking :). Your piece is much different, but I got that same vibe. Close, intimate, friendly - which is the main reaso...

Re: (Electronic) Waterfalls Remix

I like the idea that you found it randomly. It's got a nice atmosphere. There seem to be too many higher frequencies in the same range as the vocals though. If you cut the eq of the competing instruments (drums?) it should let the vocals come through. The hi-hats may not be in the same range as the ...

I get it Pete. I knew from your OP that you are focused on the idea. You as the artist can present it any way you want. However, when you ask for gene suggestions, well that opens a whole nother can-o-worms.[/quote]

Re: (Strings + guitars) Little One

Hi I think you have an interesting piece in here but initially hard to listen to as the balance is pretty all over the place. The trick is to stop thinking so much about what your brain wants to hear and to hear what is there and then sculpt that to fit the illusion you are wanting to create. Takes...

l like the way it wanders all over the place - it's a real cascade of tumbling notes at the start. My initial thought was that everything sounded very distinct, but then I felt everything seemed to be too prominent and fighting for the same space - in other words there doesn't seem to be enough focu...

Re: (Strings + guitars) Little One

Hey Pete, I am hearing different ambiences on the guitar and the rest of the mix. the intro guitar has a wide panned delay that contrasts to the strings which sound very narrow by comparison. then the drums and rhythm guitar have a different effect like a tight room verb. the guitar solo sounds bon...
