Just don't go near any FM synths unless you like crawling into holes and rocking in the fetal position [emoji23]

Re: Synthesizing with europa

wont bother so much with subtractor and europa now as thor aint as hard to begin with as i thought im getting into it already surprising when u try isnt it If you understand the signal flow of one you pretty much understand other synths. There's just slight variations in the path but the essentials...

Re: Synthesizing with europa

+10 for Syntorial. It's pretty damn awesome for those who need to get going. It starts off easy and ramps up. Second - There's a book called How to make a Noise which is quite decent. It's also free which is perfect. https://noisesculpture.com/how-to-make-a-noise-a-comprehensive-guide-to-synthesizer...

Re: What is the quickest way to record samples into NN-XT?

If you're serious about sampling your own stuff check out Sample Robot. It's designed for this type of stuff.

Or for free there was this program called Synth Catcher by ArcDev Noise Industries if you can track it down.

Re: Creative uses for mid/side splitting?

Guys this leads me to another question. So I'm writing DNB. I have a big, wide reece. I want the mid/hi's wide and then everything under 200 or so mono. I'm using Pro Q to do a side-only hi pass around 200. Is this sufficient to keep the lows mono? I test in Mono with Selig Gain but I'm not 100% su...

Re: High Pass or Low Pass progression

I’m using kHs Filter for sweeps. It’s clean sounding and low on CPU. Plus, you can adjust the Q to add resonance which makes the sweeping effect more "dramatic". It’s 19 $. I highly recommend it. Do you use it on the Mix master bus for the entire song or a specific lane in the Mix ? You could put i...

Re: Creative uses for mid/side splitting?

Be careful with side only processing as this can be lost when the track is played back in mono. Best to do periodic testing when doing this.

Re: No Subtractor-like Phase Modulation + FM Reason synths?

But an oscilloscope measures audio signal. Without feeding it audio it wouldn't display anything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It would have audio in too, of course. I want it to display only, say, 4 cycles of the incoming audio waveform, scaled to the note I play. The scope in Reaktor Blocks...

Re: No Subtractor-like Phase Modulation + FM Reason synths?

If you really want to go down that rabbit hole, patch Pulsar (or any oscillator with phase controls and sync) into Thor and do your own multiplication/subtraction (or both?) while adjusting phase on one oscillator on Pulsar. You can also use different waveforms (unlike Subtractor) or try different ...

Re: Translate Europa/Grain envelope to standard ADSR values?

I see two things (separate but related) you are saying here: the need to see absolute values to translate from other synths (which won’t work for the curves, btw, which can be an essential part of a patch recreation), and the need to create rhythmic “snap to grid” envelopes, which is a great and co...

Re: Translate Europa/Grain envelope to standard ADSR values?

Curious how you would use these times if calculated for you? Sent from some crappy device using Tapatalk Then I could see that my attack time is 50ms or release is 1 sec, or the time between these two spots is 1/4 bar. If you want to create rhythmic modulation, why would you omit snapping? Absolute...

Re: Translate Europa/Grain envelope to standard ADSR values?

The envelope’s total time is represented across the display, and by dividing the display you can approximate the time of each stage. For example, if the overall envelope is 1 second, and the attack is 1/4 of the length of the display, it’s 250ms long. If it’s 1/8 it’s 125ms, etc. But the envelope c...

Translate Europa/Grain envelope to standard ADSR values?

Had a look through the manual and did not see anything written regarding this. Is there any way to create an envelope the same way as a standard ADSR envelope is made? I'm not talking shape but rather values. If I want a 50ms attack, is that even possible? The total envelope length knob isn't helpfu...

Re: Quantized Samples sounding bad

Gotcha, so then next time I sample something, I'll chop the sample up and then drop them in the NNXT and transpose it up there. I imagine that might be a better way to preserve the quality. Sent from my Z982 using Tapatalk Next time keep the original sample intact somewhere (unused samples maybe). ...

Re: Quantized Samples sounding bad

Not sure if I was looking at the right places but it sounds like you've transposed the sample quite a bit even though tempo doesn't change much. This can have an effect on the quality as well. Also, I saw a few channel inserts that were stripping low end (Pulverizer for one). Maybe you had somethin...

Right clicking on the audio in timeline will allow you to change modes. Also I think some devices have the filter enabled by default.

Simply chopping a sample up shouldn't alter the quality of the sample unless there's some processing happening somewhere.

Re: Envelopes

There are 2000ms in one bar at 120bpm so your attack and decay will be 1000ms. Your release should be... 1000ms too I believe and sustain is 0.

Re: Adding sub-bass to a snare?

I keep looking at Disperser every time it goes on sale and can't seem to commit because it's one of those plugins that makes you go "what is this I can't even!?". My trial has long expired and I never got to test mono compatibility. Does the effect fall apart when stereo field is collapsed? So I'm ...
