Re: Big Sur force update?!?
You probably selected "Later" as an option which still tells the OS to self-install at a later time. But you can always download any of the OS's from Apple's website and reinstall.

Re: LUFS -14, is it a mandatory rule?
Nope not at all. I learned that the hard way. That rule was to help musicians who was over blasting the limiter for the sake of loudness. Think of it like a safety net for someone who doesn't know how to use a limiter properly since streaming will adjust it anyway. But as you saw in your own example...

Re: Reason updates (11.3.7 / 11.3.8) and Reason+
I think what's happened though is people have bought into Reason unaware of that. Many older users never used anything else because being 100% Reason came with some silly sense of pride back in the day and newer users don't know how Reason was before Record. Reason + though, is really just more of ...

Re: Reason updates (11.3.7 / 11.3.8) and Reason+
Why anyone using Reason more or less daily should subscribe is beyond me. If I was a user like that I would never consider that option. Subscribe when you need it, and for less than a couple of beers! Perfect solution if you ask me. Otherwise just buy it and be done with. But I'm using Reason maybe...

Re: Reason updates (11.3.7 / 11.3.8) and Reason+
Between me acquiring Maschine, Komplete Kontrol, Komplete package + Sounds subscription, You cannot come out the gate with Reason+ at a $20 pricing model with your only marketing grab as a bunch of content and possibly some user requested features in v12. . . we're working on it. There is absolutely...

Re: Acustica Cerise channel strip FREE until Feb 14
Is anyone else experiencing a lot of latency? bypassing makes it glitch out for a couple seconds, it also happens on another plug in I got for free from them. That's the nature of their plugins. The more they update their CORE technology the better it gets, but essentially the plugin is cycling thr...

Thankyou to everyone for the responses I'm def learning here... You think just cause causal listeners prolly wont hear the difference? I'm wondering the true difference between a legit good listen and if these things actually make a difference. For instance this was a song from Sigrid called High F...

Re: Imported mp3 Ref Track is Clipping??
MP3 encoding will add a dB or 2, always. I don't know but I myself master with this in mind so I will have a -1dbtp on the limiter to account for this if the track will be encoded into MP3 down the line. This, anytime the master is near 0 dB it'll clip. But its an MP3 and no one cares anyways. I st...

Re: Nektar p4 worth it or others?
I'm using Komplete Kontrol S49 MKII. Like QVprod said, better keys are better keys. I got it as well because NI did an all black keys version (which is amazing btw) and the integration with the Komplete Bundle. Now S1 has a mixer integration with the onboard screens. Wouldn't dare switch MIDI keyboa...

Re: headphone upgrade ?
Audio-Technica’s ATH-M50X are worth a look. For music *production* the 40s are a better choice. Not only are they ~1/3 cheaper, but they also have a flatter frequency response, whereas 50s have a "disco smile" i.e. they emphasize lows & highs for more "dynamic", arguably more pleasant listening exp...

Re: Question about the "cut don't boost EQ" idea
I can tell there are no proper studio engineers in this thread. Cutting is always preferable to boosting, because boosting also increases the unwanted background noise, even in a "clean" digital system. That's not to say that you should absolutely never boost. It's just that boosting should be the ...

Re: Question about the "cut don't boost EQ" idea
Yes but your converters don’t hear 32 but audio. It wouldn’t be a problem with small gain changes. For example, an export in Reason is only 24 bit unless you bounce mix channels. The ceiling is extremely high in 32 bit processing but then that’s when my other reason comes into play And I'll repeat ...

Re: Question about the "cut don't boost EQ" idea
We're usually 20 dBs away from the ceiling but about 100 dBs away from the noise floor. This is why subtractive EQ is recommended. That's the old reason to recommend cut and not boost. That was before you had 1500 dB (or more) dynamic range to work with. This means the "ceiling" is roughly 750 dB a...

Re: Question about the "cut don't boost EQ" idea
From what I understand this rule of thumb, is more to be aware of the tendency to think "it lacks bass, I increase", then "oh, I need to boost the high" etc. I see it more like a "beginners caution". The mindset of trying to balance the mix by cutting some areas, is a good way to understand that ev...

Re: Question about the "cut don't boost EQ" idea
As been stated but to further the subject. Think of an EQ as a tone balancer. Like chaosroyale stated, there are no qualitative differences between a boost or a cut. A boost in one place vs a cut in all the places EXCEPT where you initially did the boost results in the same tone (in the most ideal s...

Re: Mäag EQ4 $29.99 ⚡️ 24H Flash Sale
The Maags are exceptional. Let no one here fool you saying its just another typical EQ. Why is that? The concept of the Maags EQ differ from traditional EQs in that the wide boosts and topology of the boost always result in as minimum phase shifting as possible (compromising in gain). Therefore, bo...

Re: Mäag EQ4 $29.99 ⚡️ 24H Flash Sale
Did someone ask why the Maag EQ4 is good? Out of all the analog modeled EQs we question the Maag? I only question it because I've read it is good and being the plugin in this thread I figured out would be good to ask here 🤷♂️ The Maags are exceptional. Let no one here fool you saying its just anot...
