Re: Massive X no longer works in Reason
My music & video production machines are Win 7, while my daily use PC is Win 10. I'm intimately familiar with both, and after years of use can unequivocally declare I absolutely despise Win 10 :puf_unhappy: However, I do realize the days are numbered for Win 7 viability - at least if I want to stay ...

Re: Massive X no longer works in Reason
Hmmmm... maybe it's because I'm still on Win 7? Never had any problems with previous versions of Massive X. Also tried uninstalling/reinstalling - but no joy

Re: Massive X no longer works in Reason
I should probably elaborate on my original post and provide a little more detail... When Reason launches, the plugin scan freezes on Massive X. The only way to proceed is to have Reason skip Massive X. After Reason is fully launched, Massive X appears in Reason's "Manage Plugins" window with a "Cras...

Re: Massive X no longer works in Reason
Massive X is still VST2 as far as I can tell. Reaper loads Massive X just fine, and it's listed only as a VST2.

Massive X no longer works in Reason
Recently updated to the latest version of Massive X (v1.3.2) and now the VST is no longer recognized by Reason 11. Anyone else experiencing this?
Fortunately, Massive X can still be loaded thru Komplete Kontrol, but I'd prefer to work with the synth VST directly.

Re: Question about Manage Plugins list
It would be handy to have a printable list that shows all my VSTs, including the ones I've disabled in Reason, but I haven't found a way to export the Manage Plugins list. Is the list is accessible somewhere on the file system? I'm on Reason 10, Windows. Thanks! I've been requesting this feature si...

Acustica plugins not reporting latency inside Combinator
I can't remember if this is something that's already known, but I noticed that Acustica plugins (Gold, Pink, Sand, etc.) don't report latency when they're placed inside a Combinator, which results in the corresponding track playing out of sync. When the plugins are outside of a Combinator, latency i...

Re: Orchestral Strings: How Do You Use Them ?
If you're looking for flexible and realistic sounding string performances in a MIDI environment, my recommendation is to venture into the land of Kontakt libraries (including proprietary players like SINE, Play, VSL, etc.). Most of these libraries are created by developers who focus exclusively on o...

Thanks for the comments.
Not surprisingly, this was made entirely with Kontakt libraries:
- Strings: Jaeger
- Brass: Jaeger, Ark 1, and Chapman Trumpet
- Woodwinds: Palette
- Runs and flourishes: Modal Runs
- Percussion: The Orchestra and Cue Builders
- Choir: Ark 1

Re: Sonic Reality Refills on sale for $5 each
The original Miroslav concert grand is still one of my favorite all-purpose pianos. I always use it for composing sketches, and it's one of two pianos I reach for first when recording a track (the other is Toontrack's Upright). It has a nice even tone across the entire keyboard, and sits really well...

Re: Humble Bundle - Filmmakers Bundle
My NLE of choice is Vegas, but I've used older versions of Hitfilm in the past, when it was purely a compositing tool (like After Effects) and not a full blown NLE. Hitfilm is optimized for visual effects, advanced compositing, particle effects, tracking, and other advanced effects. I always liked H...

Re: Humble Bundle - Filmmakers Bundle
Hitfilm for $30 is a steal considering their Black Friday pricing was well over $150. The cinematic LUTS, Action Pro, and lower thirds, only make this deal sweeter.

Re: Jamstix in Reason?
I've had my eye on Jamstix for many many years, but could never quite justify buying it, especially since I had invested heavily in EZdrummer + expansions, and was very happy with it. But Rayzoon is running a huge sale this December, and the prices are just way too tempting, so I took the plunge. I ...

Re: Producing Great Vocals
1) You would add the compressor, EQ and De-Esser as inserts wouldn't you and then Reverb as a send? how does having 3 effects as inserts and reverb as a send effect the order, reverb needs to be last but would it be added as a send? You could put reverb as an insert, but there are a couple of impor...

Re: 'Tell me about Arrangement' (Questions)
Instead of thinking Loops where you endlessly pile on more things, think instead about how your idea can develop over time. Music is, after all, Tone over Time. This of course, is the recommended way of approaching composition and arrangement. I merely suggested the "piling on" method as a quick an...

You may already know about this, but I just stumbled onto it for the first time, so passing it along: https://www.conversesamplelibrary.com Huge library of royalty-free samples. I think there may be even more sample sets than those shown on the main page, if you create an account. I haven't put thes...

Re: What are your three favourite free VSTs?
When Reason first supported VSTs, I turned into a VST binge-aholic, and accumulated a ton of free VSTs. I tried to grab the better stuff and not just indiscriminantly get everything. As time went on, I gravitated to paid plugins and the freebies were gradually replaced by quality commercial VSTs. Bu...

Re: 'Tell me about Arrangement' (Questions)
I can't answer all those questions right now, but I do have an arranging tip/technique that can help turn a 8 or 16-bar loop into a full song arrangement, fairly easily. It goes something like this: Once the core idea of your loop is established, just start layering more and more parts onto it. Get ...

Re: Anyone still find subtractor irreplaceable?
I routinely use Subtractor to layer sub bass into tracks. I have many other tools capable of the same thing, but Subtractor is always my go-to, and seems to deliver the best results for me. Also, I'm not a synth guy and don't program synths, but... Subtractor is the one synth I fully grok and can co...
