Re: R9 download speed...
Very slow here, and the download has reset a few times, forcing me to start over. Getting spendy on a metered Internet connection. (Damn the US broadband monopolies!) I downloaded the version without soundbanks (fast download), installed it, and am letting it grab the rest of the files. MUCH faster ...

Re: Maybe why your Balance sucks.
Despite all the problems I've had with it, I still love my Balance. I use it with my laptop on an as-needed basis. On one hand, I'm disappointed that it hasn't been better supported. On the other hand, kudos to Props for trying to create such an inexpensive and sexy device! Hope they stick to softwa...

Re: new midi keyboard
I've been happy with my Arturia Keylab 61. They are often on sale for ridiculously low prices and come with a good softsynth bundle. Got mine for $250 with a full version of Bitwig (meh). For that price, it has exceeded my expectations. I would have preferred a Panorama, but decided I really didn't ...

The RE has a bug and crashed. Ochen Ks RE seem to be buggy. I had crash with Carve and still some Problems with 4MER. Try to contact him. What bitrate do you have? Can you reproduce it? OS? Glitch Effect does this reliably if you turn all of the probabilities down to 0. My guess is a math error (pr...

Best laugh I've had all week - really enjoyed it. In my mind's eye, I saw Appalachian bearded folksy folk happily jamming with LA inner city rappers.

Re: Propellerheads Balance audio interface any uses now?
From what I can tell, Balance suffers from hardware and software issues on Win 8 and 10. I've tried mine with four systems, all have issues. On three, the Balance hardware/driver combination interferes with standby and sleep, variably causing blue screens (only time I've ever seen the blue screen of...

Re: MASCHINE 2.4.5 OUT NOW!
Nice! I had such a difficult time deciding between Maschine Studio and Push 2. Ultimately, I went with Push because for me it's a much better replacement for keys and plays nicely with Reason (albeit in a much more limited capacity). I LOVE Push, but after several months with Ableton Live, I'm not a...

Re: Adam Fielding's Livestream Thread (next stream-date in first post)
YouTube has generated an industry of pirates who steal content from others, claim it as their own under Content ID, then attack the legitimate content owner. This is really difficult to defend against if you are a small YouTube producer... doubly so if the pirate is a large multinational company. (S...

Kong supports velocity layered samples.
Use the NN-Nano and you can have as many layers as you want. No, it's not as straightforward as MPC, but it's pretty easy.

Re: Zoom H4n Pro
How does the cheapo H1 stack up to these more expensive models? Features simply don't compare, but for its size, the H1 has impressive dynamic range, stereo separation and SNR. It's really easy to use and very pocketable. I use it to record live events (for fun) and conferences and lectures (for wo...

Re: A G Y, same time at Reason F4 keyboard
The original QWERTY typewriters would jam if the typist pressed more than one key at a time! Computer keyboards don't jam, but they do suffer multiplex collisions. Basically, the cost and complexity of designing a keyboard that is capable of tracking all 108 or more keys independently and/or simulta...

Re: Zero vs kHs ONE vs Hydronexius
Hydronexius is a very capable ROMpler with a large soundbank. ONE is Subtractor's bigger, better looking, and more successful brother. Zero is the weird Nobel laureate who lives next door and keeps causing brownouts in the neighborhood. Such different beasts! If I had to keep only one, I'd choose Hy...

Re: Can Reason do 16 levels like an MPC?
Rex loops don't support this, but NN-XT does. Use Kong with a NN-Nano and you can assign multiple samples to each pad, each triggered by a different velocity range.

Re: Brand new PC (Core i7 4Ghz) with Focusrite Scarlett 6i6: Too slow!?
Another thing to check, especially if you built this system yourself: LGA 1151 sockets are somewhat notorious for bent pins. If software and OS troubleshooting fails, take the CPU off of the motherboard and carefully inspect the pins on the motherboard socket using a magnifying glass, loupe, or micr...

Re: REASON 9: The Wait Is Getting Ridiculous
rewire could really benefit from bi-directional audio and save state like VSTs. that would make it a lot more useable. maybe clipboard/drag and drop support too. you can do a lot more with VSTs. Agreed. Since getting Push, I've been going back and forth between Reason and Ableton quite a bit. Rewir...

Re: Necessary Computer Specs to Avoid Overwhelming CPU
I actually contacted Reason about this and they've mentioned that hyperthreading will not impact my use of Reason as they don't utilize this in their software. Their is only an insignificant amount of power added with hyperthreading if any. I guess I could look into a Xeon as well since I haven't b...
