Re: Necessary Computer Specs to Avoid Overwhelming CPU
Xeon CPU with registred ECC RAM .. = stable taking a lot of cores is much better, because you don't need a fast Single Core Clock for Reason!! (3 GHz or more).. One more opinion, if you're still shopping. The absolute difference in computational power between 4th generation i7 and 6th generation i7...

Re: PC Build from Scratch. How do the specs look for Reason?
Why not a ssd hd for operating system and Reason? Not sure, actually. I'm new to this and wanted to find something decent but not go all-out on every component. Is my hard drive fine, or would you strongly encourage an SSD HD? No reason not to get one of each. SSDs are pretty cheap these days, and ...

I have Push 2 (and PusheR2). It has full scale support. The interface is different than Live but the same features are there. Here's the manual for PusheR2: http://retouchcontrol.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/PusheR2-Getting-Started-Guide-v1.0.0-.pdf I'm finding Push 2 to be a game-changing interfa...

Re: Any news?
Here's a theory: Maybe the developers are neglecting full time development for reason because there's just not enough sales to cover for that development time spent. I can think of 3 main reasons for that. 1. The reason SDK is to restrictive 2. The quality of the RE's just aren't good enough 3. A l...

I don't get it, either. Definitely not a rack extension that I'd purchase separately.

Re: Infinite CV? I need a CV signal to never stop rising. *scratches head*
If you want something to continually rise in pitch, you would need to create the sweep of the sound rising, then use two copies of it to crossfade between them to make it seem like an endless and continual sound. There is no way to make it go forever. And if this is what you're after, Google for "S...

Re: Live-stream Reason production sesh on Wed 17th
Thanks, Adam. Very informative and entertaining - one of the best tutorials on advanced Reason techniques I've seen yet. I finally "get" how to use Blocks in Reason. Love that you took the time and effort to do this - really can't thank you enough. I eagerly await our next glimpse into your process....

Thank you both for listening and commenting. I'm amazed at how naked I feel putting my (possibly terrible) creative work out for display.
I'm looking forward to practicing, improving, and more nakedness.

(Downtempo electronic instrumental) Europa Hibernis
Hope and warmth amid cold, isolated winter. Warm, ambient FM pads against acoustic strings, synth leads, and a lonely electric guitar. Also my first original track in ages. Enjoy! Comments, constructive criticism, and creative advice are most welcome. https://soundcloud.com/sinistereo/europa-hibernis

Re: Does Reason have proper multicore support?
You might be a little short sighted if you think AMD and INTEL are the only CPU brands around... :) Fortunately, the various ARM manufacturers are what's driving Intel to make smaller, more power efficient CPUs now. I say now, the ARM CPU can be traced back to 1983, but it wasn't a blip on Intel's ...

Re: Does Reason have proper multicore support?
In interesting news, AMD is the target of a deceptive trade practices lawsuit. Plaintiffs allege that AMD's choice to use the industry standard term "core" to refer to what amounts to an incomplete processor is misleading and was designed to confuse customers into thinking that an 8 "core" AMD CPU h...

does it offer all the same functionality on windows systems? Cause the trackpad 1 didn't. Is there no equivalent of the Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse for Windows? I can't imagine there wouldn't be. Re: Does Reason have proper multicore support?
I had a dual Six Core Opteron workstation. 12 cores total, without shared FPUs. The last good CPU AMD made. Reason would render on 11 of the 12 cores. Thanks for sharing. I guess Reason really does just ignore hyperthreads (or whatever it is called on AMD processors). Reason doesn't ignore hyperthr...

Re: Does Reason have proper multicore support?
The AMD FX-8320 has four processors in one package. Everyone else in the industry would say that it has four "cores," but AMD has been playing the marketing game and instead markets this processor as having four "modules" with a total of eight "cores." Intel calls these "hyperthreads," but either wa...

Re: New to Reason: Which order to learn the synths in?
Welcome to Reason! Prepare to have fun!
I think Thor is a good way to learn about subtractive synthesis. It's very modular, so you can start simple - a single oscillator - then gradually add more components and complexity.

Re: How to get a piano recording right?
I really like the composition, especially with the modified chromatic phrases. Reminiscent of Yann Tiersen in a good way.
My ears tell me that the piano still sounds heavy in the mids, but I prefer nearly unprocessed solo piano.

Re: Motif-RackES
That sounds like the rack is working as expected. The Motif uses USB only for MIDI data, not audio. You'll need to connect a set of audio outputs from the Motif to the inputs on your sound interface in order to use it within Reason (or any other DAW).
