Re: Poll: What is most important in a synth rack extension?

I would have voted at least twice for Oscillators! This is usually the first feature that will get my attention, and this is why I tend to be interested in having as many synthesis techniques as possible in my rack (subtractive, additive, FM, grain-based, original, etc.), or large and varied sets of...

Great! Thanks a lot for that sale! I had an eye on Prepared since a long time: let's say that this ReFill is really tempting for an Aphex Twin fan... ;)

Re: Digital Sound Factory Studio Orchestra

I would really love to hear a demo from this orchestra refill, I didn't see one on the product website! Maybe is that a browser problem, because there's a little demo. Look under the "Add to cart" button, there's the word "Demo" and then a tiny Play button: there you go! :puf_bigsmile: It's not the...

LMAO!! This thread is awesome. It's like watching a bunch of senior citizens reminisce about the "old days". ;p FYI, there's a ton of awesome music out there still happening in this day and age. Just because you're not inspired or think it's all shite doesn't mean there's not any. The fact that it'...

Top 10 SDK 2 Rack Extensions I'd love to see in my rack

I took a decision... For financial reasons, I won't upgrade from Reason 6.5 until at least late fall... So, no MIDI-out, no players, and no many other things for me for the next months... But one thing that I am missing is the possibility to try SDK 2 Rack Extensions and to adopt them into my rack.....

2. Yep, my view on music will not change because I have good taste, and can objectivly analize what is original, what is new and fresh, what is complex and unicue and what was stollen, repeated or reused or just primitive and bad. I have to say that your interventions make me believe the exact oppo...

Thanks guys for your support, it helps me to understood what is going on. I have some more things that I want to shard with you. Remeber in 90s how it was, how hard was to program hardware sequencers, or program TB 303, or sample some stuff into sampler and than tweak it, how much hardware costs an...

Re: Favorite compressor(s) and why?

My skills at using compressors are still low, and I've only tried/got low or middle priced compressors. Up to now, my favorites are: - DCAM ChanComp: great to really raise the volume between transcients, and make a drum pattern/loop more alive! - Pulverizer: my default mastering compressor + I like ...

Re: whats the most versatile drum synth RE?

I mean you could just chuck a Kong in a Combinator and send the gate out of each pad to a Subtractor or Thor with key tracking disabled and then design your sounds in there. And of course each pad could go to a different "module" so maybe RP's Punch BD for kick, EC-1 for claps, Republik for percuss...

Re: Spectre is in the Shop!

I'm a sucker for these kind of creative FX as well. For me they are the most interesting type of Rack Extensions so this one does particularly stand out. For me too! I can't try Spectre right now, but I've listened to the demos, and this is one of the most exciting creative effects released recentl...

Re: whats the most versatile drum synth RE?

for weird sounds, kong has some underrated stuff though like the tone generator, ring mod and the overdrive's resonance Sure! That's why I often use the send audio outs of the EDS06s to send a sound to a Kong used as an effect! I especially use the ring modulator that way... In fact, EDS06s beats K...

Re: whats the most versatile drum synth RE?

I mean has anyone ever used ESD? I do not see any value in this RE, other might do, but I would not call it a drum synth if you compare it to Kong. Au contraire! EDS06s is definitely what I'd call a real drum synth ! It's true that its basic sounds set (waveforms) is very electronic, but Its many m...

Too bad I can't buy Revolt from you guys who don't use it. :( I REALLY, REALLY want that RE, but sadly can not buy it anymore. Double :( Very sad indeed... Re: What are your most forgotten REs?

FET Compressor - Weird I know. It's my most expensive RE and I really liked the demos and other people loved it so I bought it. Turns out it doesn't work for me. I try it sometimes just because I know it's supposed to be awesome but I almost always get better results with all my other compressors. ...

Re: What are your most forgotten REs?

Wow! Interesting how some forgotten REs of others are "always-in-my-rack" ones for me! The most surprising comment for me is the one from TheMiles: ReVolt is and has always been one of my most used CV utilities, PX7 is one of my favorite synths and, well, how could I forget Bitspeek, which I don't u...

Re: Vibro Wavetable Synth In the shop

I have this and Nostromo on trial at the moment - gotta say, I'm getting more interesting & unexpected sounds out of this one than Nostromo (and I say that as a huge fan of Lectric Panda devices in general) Nostromo's great but Vibro is the one I'll be buying this time around. Re: What's your favorite synth/instrument RE under 40 $/€?

I'm still limited to SDK 1 REs, so I haven't tried/got most of those less-than-40$ REs... My favorite up to now is Chip64, for fast chiptune-like sounds that I can use as "special effects" in my projects... I was going to say ivoks, but that's probably over 40 then... I think its regular price was 3...

Re: RE: Re: Does the arrival of players mean an SDK update?

Seems to be the general thought. ;) In the same time you have the new drummers introducing CV outs. If PH uses IDT for them too, one could think CV outs are a thing for IDT based Rack Extensions soon as well, which is just another random guess. That's what I thought too when I saw the new A-List pr...

Re: A tip for Re Instruments

Funny thing, I usually tend to do the reversed thing! I tend to never (or rarely) use onboard effects on instruments, but always send all of them into more or less the same set of effects (usually Synapse DR-1, DC-2, Titus...). I sometimes even bypass an instrument's filters to use external filters ...

Re: Autofilter RE recommendation

My main recommandation would be simply to explore CV! As far as I know, no Reason device will do that trick directly (I mean triggering a LFO or an envelop to modulate a filter with a threshold detector), but with CV, this is very simple to do, and there's many ways to do it. I've just made a little...

Re: Blamsoft has great support!

While it's great to see some major VST developers make plug-ins for Reason, we should never forget that some indie developers primarily dedicated to Reason can eventually become "major" developers for our own platform. There's a few developers that we saw starting with simple and modest devices that...
