Re: What have you been listening to?

Spiritbox's album has been on constant rotation here for a while. Perfectly paced album and an incredibly satisfying heavy listen. https://youtu.be/8MP4QxsFICM I've been listening to a load of older Masayoshi Takanaka records, his music is pure joy in audio form and I love it. https://youtu.be/38ooj...

I really really like TrackSpacer - I tend to use it when I need individual elements to pop through a mix (drum hits & vocals, usually) and it works magnificently.

Cubase will let you choose a mix channel for a record source but only in Pro not in Artist or Elements. It was the my main reason for upgrading to Pro as Artist was plenty enough for me in every other area.
I have somehow totally missed that then - back to the manual for me, then! :)

Re: What Do You Miss From Reason?

As for backwards compatibility, I wasn't aware, do other daw's not do this then? (I guess the answer is no) but this is surprising. In the sense that most DAWs can open projects made using earlier versions - yes, other DAWs can do that. Problems are almost certainly going to arise with regards to p...

Re: What Do You Miss From Reason?

I haven't used the RRP yet, but is it true that it doesn't let you print MIDI notes to the DAW sequencer from players? Because that's something I'd miss Can't speak for other DAWs, but it is totally possible to do in Cubase - I use BeatMap with Drumvolution quite frequently, and then record the out...

Re: What are the RE must haves?

Original QRS was initially promoted more for smaller spaces, which was an "unexplored" area in the digital realm at that time (Early 1980s). Lexicon had the long colorful reverbs (still my faves), AMS had the non-lin thing, EMT 250 was "what it was" (nice chorus IIRC), but QRS was the only option f...

Re: What Do You Miss From Reason?

So if you use the RRP now, what do you miss from Reason? Great question! First thing I'd say is that I still maintain that Reason is greater than the sum of its parts, so the first thing I miss is the "whole" Reason. The RRP is a great thing to have, but I'd still much rather use the standalone "co...

Re: What are the RE must haves?

I forgot to mention DR-1 Deep Reverb. I love that thing and if Synapse made it into a VST I would buy it immediately just so I could have an excuse to buy it twice. I kind of regret buying the Relab LX480 because while it may be the most accurate, I actually prefer DR-1's interpretation of that sty...

Re: Increased fan noise with Reason 12?

Yeah, I was thinking the GPU fan might be kicking in. But, to be honest, it shouldn't be that heavy on graphics, as it's really just (mostly) high def static images that are being rendered (as opposed to what it would be rendering in a game). I wouldn't rule that out as a distinct possibility. Alth...

I thought we talked about this much earlier? Re: Propellerhead were sort of right with ReWire ...

The first (and only) time I properly used ReWire for a full project was in 2011 when I was working on a production album. I was having a full-on "grass is greener" moment after picking up Komplete 7, which may or may not have been compounded by my contracting glandular fever shortly beforehand. It w...

Re: New Pricing for Reason 12 - Upgrades now 199 from 129

I have no problem with RS increasing the upgrade price - that's their perogative, and it's up to us as users to decide whether or not it's worth it. However, I take a little umbrage with this. Reason came out in the year 2000. You know when the last price increase was? Never That is flat-out untrue....

Re: New innovative features?

Given that Reason already supports CV and half-rack devices I don't think it would be that hard to do. They could implement an empty 3U and/or 6U high "Eurorack" style enclosure that can be added to the rack and then offer a selection of modules to populate it. That's exactly what I was thinking. I...

Re: New innovative features?

Years ago (pre-VST support, post RE-support so I'd guess somewhere around 2016?) I thought it'd be a neat idea to see Reason focussing a bit more on its semi-modular nature by introducing fully modular components to the rack. The RE store was already there, modular gear was exploding in popularity, ...

Re: POLL: VST3 or QOL Priority? What would you have rather seen first?

Think I'm in the minority, but I'd equate VST3 to be QOL. It's not really a feature but rather an improvement. Ditto. I'd take other QoL improvements over VST3 support for purely selfish reasons - but VST3 support is only going to become a larger issue as time goes by, so I totally understand the d...

Re: Since the doors to RS are now open

1. Was Roland serious about fighting you in the courts over Rebirth? Speculation, ahoy! I'd be amazed if things got even remotely close to that point - iOS Rebirth development stopped in 2013, and the PC/Mac versions were discontinued way back in 2005. I feel like Roland probably had a legal obliga...

Blamsoft VK-1 Viking - a niche case; yeah it's just a rather limited monosynth, but its free (as in lunch) and WOAH that sound has so much character! Stack 2 in a combinator, add a Valhalla Delay, and you have huge sound for a tiny budget. I totally forgot VK-1 was a VST now! Blamsoft are definitel...

Re: Most overrated and underrated VST developers (can list specific VSTs too)

I think Audiospillage (and specifically Drumspillage) are super underrated. Their plug-ins are AUs and are Mac only as a result, and I've only use Drumspillage 2... but nobody ever seems to talk about it and I think that's a huge shame! It hasn't been updated in years and I've moved back to Windows ...
