Re: My attempt at a transient/sustain splitter combinator (only stock devices) - any improvements?
Oh I do use Scream4 on many, many, many things. A client who sits with me as I mix jokes about how I scream at everything he does. In no way did I paint with such a black & white brush to say that it could/should never be done. But I did indicate that with all of these things, there is often a trade...

Re: About Improving Reason's Internal DAW
I made a review of Cakewalk recently (and remember I owned Sonar 2 and it broke every session). I was pretty positive overall, esp about the mixing experience, but very honest about the limits and what is funky. The comments are proof that the internet is an amazing place if you own flame-retardant ...

Re: (Electronic rock) The Dunes Secret
Hi Eugenio I really like where you are going musically, a lot like Rob Papen's old outfit Nova. I would love to hear you work with a Mix Engineer to help the magic that you are looking to create be translated better. Your mixes, cover the basics but also lose a sense of flow and therefore beauty in ...

Re: My attempt at a transient/sustain splitter combinator (only stock devices) - any improvements?
I get that audio atom-splitting is the rage at the moment, but I Q whether is it really a great plan as while it can seem to solve a problem, it creates a whole lot of others that are less natural than the solution that is to be had - as you are discovering. This is why it is often better to go back...

Re: About Improving Reason's Internal DAW
I'm with Mr Spanner. Reaper can do trillions of things more than Reason but it is in how it manages all those trillions of things that it comes unglued. Reason's Automation is elegant, which means that while it may only do 4 things, it does them very nicely, very usefully so I can get my job done an...

Re: a bit (New Age) Morning Sparkle
Indeed, I probably would but I learned ages ago from trying to please others (esp in forums) that it never works out. So this is what I did and it will work for what I want as a transition from the structured day to the (hopefully) unstructured night of sleeping and dreaming - as shall be represente...

Re: a bit (New Age) Morning Sparkle
Ok it is a hard room. The same happened with one of my last sleep things; got lovely feedback on a specialist New Age site but savaged here. Make music with more sturm und drang and it is too complex for enjoyability. Make it simple and it is meh. This is New Age - only a bit darker than they seem t...

More structured! This is almost at the, "now line up for underpants inspection kiddies" stage from me already. It has drums!

Re: Your reason. Your Sound?
I have a common Finalizing (Mastering) rig but otherwise, I keep my New Project Template clean so I don't start from exactly the same place every time. I make presets for sale but for myself, it is pretty rare that I use any (even my own). I tend to make a new (if not similar) sound every time I nee...

a bit (New Age) Morning Sparkle
This is the first version of a track just finished (not even listened to properly so it might change tomorrow). Between client mixing work, I manage to sneak in some of my own. Because I am otherwise busy, I often make this work minimal these days so I feel I can move swiftly. I have everything from...

Wow, rather dense.
If I were in the space for such material, I think I'd rather like it. It feels like it has the sort of intensity of late EBM and early Techno crossover.

Thanks Jake simply is Jake. A few years ago he put himself on a big mission to become a master songwriter with B1 & B2 (Benny & Bjorn) of ABBA as his cornerstone/benchmark. This was just Pop and seeing '80s (Retroblaze - or whatever silly name they call I this week) has been part of the culture, he ...

- I will make 4 tracks to form an EP about cleaning up the cat's litter box … So if I can convince the wife to let me take over litter box cleaning duty it will make me a super-producer? Yes, clearly that was my whole argument. 199% Guaranteed to win you 34 Grammys and a kiss from Elton John. ;-)

(Rock/Pop) Never Living Without You a bit '80s
This is the first time I have had an artist make a full live-action video for something I have mixed. There have been lots with stills, incl the ones I make for clients, but a real live boy! is exciting. That and I am pretty chuffed with the all-Reason (11 at the time) mix that references a sort of ...

Re: Looking for guitar VST that has that "80s synthwave" sound.
If you know how to Play & Amp (and I use Scream4 for most of these (no IRs) then the guitar/s in ID8 will get you there just fine. It is more in the playing. While not chasing the same sound, most of the "guitars" on this record are synths of one kind or another. Many from Europa (in my Eternal Batt...

While I get (and applaud that solution) I would still rather have that option to fix the mix rather than to have to redo a whole pile of work.
I have learned to choose my battles so do not allow myself to endlessly tinker. Do what you can in the next 5 mins the move along.

Re: About Improving Reason's Internal DAW
The idea appeals to me because like everybody else I often get stuck in that 8 or 16 -bar loop until I hate it or don't have the enthusiasm to make anything more of it. I have talked about this a lot but oddly enough, most people seem to go straight back to Loop Hell. Odd. I guess it is like an add...

Re: Reason 9.5 input/output dilemma.
Onboard sound does work in that you can hear it, however quality and latency are rarely high on the priority list when designing the circuits so a USB outboard will tend to beat something Realtek every day overall, esp for ASIO Drivers. Those evo4 are really cheap. The HK speakers I have seen pics o...

Re: About Improving Reason's Internal DAW
My experience has been that I start most of my songs in Reason, but find if there's any weakness it's in finishing them. I've been doing this "music thing" for a long time and would LOVE to find an all in one solution. I'm tech savvy to be sure, but when you can get in the flow with one application...

More "Analog with the sound of Digital"??
It is cheap and if you aren't already doing these things with Scream4 and the RS "SSL" Rack devices it is probably ok
(note I am not saying that Reason's SSL is SSL, just the functionality is pretty well all there already).

Re: New jaunty dance track feedback please
Musically I like it. Simple and clean. I think it could use a few more embellishments. But not too many as the minimal feel is nice. I am assuming it is not mixed yet as that can bring a lot more engagement too as right now, things are a bit disconnected - as in there is no unified space that this i...
