Help needed: macOS Sierra - I lost my calendar!
Hi folks! I used OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) so far, but I thought it was time to go a step further 'cause the whole system got a bit clumsy since that time. My idea was to install 10.9 (Mavericks), but the installer I had in stock didn't work, so I decided to do THE BIG STEP and install the newest OS...

MIDI Controller DIY
Last week a friend showed me a Youtube channel about how to build your own MIDI controller... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JONIZdLZAVM&list=PL8ANKYeWEXshCLOS9sFfcQNigYXEb1Ps6 Okay, this one is in German, but I'm sure you can find similar stuff in most other languages ;) , like this... https://www...

Re: What can modular synths do that Reason can't?
I agree with OP. Where's the beef in these "virtual" modulars? Ok, they provide tons of modulation possibilities. You can store patches and recall (or maybe blend?) them. Many of this can be done in Reason too - better than in any other DAW. So, personally I'm not interested at all in these virtual ...

Re: Headphone Mixing Tips Needed
I work on a MacBook Pro in my bed, and therefore I use headphones of course. Nothing special, just some 50€ Logitech USB stuff. On the other side I work at a professional studio (equipped with K|H monitors and a Trinnov Optimizer), so I can double-check what I did at home. And thirdly I sent a track...

Re: Alligator Volume Question
Well, Alligator can do a lot of nonsense with an incoming signal. So, there's probably no "proper" setting for its volume knob. It's an effect. Effects are never meant to comply to measuring technique, they do just the crazy things we love them for .

19! (not the song and not NN-19 ;))
As an electronic guy, I'm not soooo interested in real drumming. I'm totally happy with ReDrum and 'Kings of Kong' for my own music. But once in a century, I notice a real-life-drummer, that strikes my heart  . This time it's just because I subscribed to musictrackjp , a Youtube channel that ...

Re: So there's gonna be more players :)
What would a new step sequencer do that the Matrix doesn't? You could transpose a sequence using MIDI. I do it all the time, but that needs a pretty tricky combination with 3rd-party REs. And if props do their job right, it could be used polyphonically and provide other features (like the earlier m...

You dont know how lucky you are to have been involved in those films. I would sell my soul to be able to move to NZ and work with WetaFX. Too bad I live half a world a way (Yes, Thorin quote :D) in Norway, which makes that impossible. But yes, I do know its alot of hard and passionated work. All th...

Re: What's your day job?
I work at a dubbing studio, and so I mainly mix german versions of forreign TV series. As our studio also does dubbing for cinema, I occasionally prepare sound designs for scenes that are hard to do in the mixing studio. So, if some of you guys watched "The Hobbit" in German, when Bilbo met Smaug in...

Re: (Electronix) A Future Cuteness
Surprised no one else has commented on this, reminds me of Tangerine Dream, sound design and the flow of the track, it's sounds quite polished, like it a lot, well done... I like Tangerine Dream's sound of the 70s and 80s a lot. So, this likeness is intended ;) . They just had some signature sounds...

I didn't make any music in the past time. But there was still an unfinished thing.... This one! It isn't mastered (ok, just a little bit), but I just liked to get rid of it before I get Reason 9 ;) . BTW, that little thing in the picture will eventually become my niece or nephew. Fingers crossed :D ...

Here is a picture of me on the same flare boom in 2014. Only this time I was slightly off the side of the tip whereas yesterday I was off the very end which gave me that great angle. That would definitely be NO job for me :o . I prefer to sit here in the studio and mix an episode of "Madam Secretar...

Hurray to abseiling! (No, really, as a German that's quite amusing ;)) Great picture. I don't get it ;( hahaha But I love Germany so is that okay? thanks. "Abseilen" in German comes from Seil = Rope and means "to climb down a rope". It's just funny for us to see this kind of german words in English...

Co-produce a documentary about Bob Moog!
Some of you may know the documentary movie ' I dream of Wires ' which was produced and released thanks to crowdfunding a few years ago. Now, the producers of that movie plan a new documentary about the life of Bob Moog! And again, they ask for donations at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/540458...
