Re: Open to suggestions and feedback (Weird song)
I kinda like it but it feels a little too predictable to be really unsettling. Everything's happening in multiples of 4, I'd mix that up a bit. And the snare sound is great, but by about halfway through I'm finding it a little too insistent & repetitive - feel inclined to rein it in slightly and may...

Re: Complex-1 users
The thing I like about Complex-1 is that it seems to provide a nice easy Modular Synthesis 101 introduction to a big deep field of sound design. I don't have the time to get into modular synthesis on the level of something like Reaktor or Voltage Modular, but I like the sounds and I'm still interest...

Re: Little Space from Soundtoys free again
Little Plate is good, but the main reason you should grab it is for an upgrade deal on Super Plate, which is *really* good

Re: Now And Then — The Last Beatles Song
I don't really get all the love people have for All Things Must Pass. Same. Who the fk releases a triple album? Even all The Beatles together couldn't manage a good double one. All Things Must Pass was like the giant dump that George finally got to take after seven years of enforced creative consti...

Re: Complex-1 users
I got Complex-1 when it first came out and sat on it waiting for tutorials or live stream that never came. I think the pandemic derailed most of that because RS pivoted to the next set of REs they release (CS, BLG, etc…) and seemed to have forgotten completely about it. So this year I took it upon ...

Re: Now And Then — The Last Beatles Song
It's easy to forget that many, many of the Beatles songs were just average. Loads of filler on the early albums and too much experimentation on the later ones. They made some great songs but not every song they made was great. Absolutely, almost all the albums are very patchy. Rubber Soul is the on...

Re: Now's my chance on Noise Engineering!
Basilimus is great, but is that the one with five million patches sorted into a dozen folders named after varieties of tea? Too cute by half, guys. Stop wanking and just give us folders for bass/pads/leads/etc

Re: Now And Then — The Last Beatles Song
I'm a huge Beatles fan but sorry, this is dreadful  I mean of course it's barrel-scraping and I wasn't expecting a top-tier song, but the production is just so flat and sludgy, has none of that distinctive Beatles snap & crackle. The only really characteristic touch is the string arrangement, w...

Re: Now's my chance on Noise Engineering!
I don't use a lot of their devices but I love their distortion unit Ruina, and Desmodus is an excellent creative reverb. Even if you already have a million distortion & reverb options, these two are worth checking out

Re: Ever made an unused plugins list?
I used to make a point of going through my plugins and using the ones that I hadn't used for a while. That approach came unstuck when Mac switched to the new processor and a lot of my sessions were stuck with small-developer plugins that hadn't been (and it's looking like they never will be) upgrade...

Re: Which Ekksp Sounds synth do I need
Yes it has that vibe from back when electronic music was the exclusive preserve of Germans with thick glasses & neckbeards. I'm loving it. Will probably grab SineSynth at some point as well, it seems to have a similar flavour but more complexity. At this point I feel like I could happily spend the n...

Re: Which Ekksp Sounds synth do I need
Welp no excuse to not grab ES-01 now. Killer price. Yep, grabbed it. It's great, could become a go-to bass synth. And I picked up HexaTone as well, so good! Spent a few hours yesterday making borked drum kit patches with it, sending the individual oscs out thru various combinations of Filter Chain,...

Which Ekksp Sounds synth do I need
There's a Ekssperimental Sounds sale on at the moment, and I'm thinking of picking up one of their synths. Of course I'll trial them, but what do you guys reckon is the Ekssperimental Sounds synth that brings something different to the table (i.e. significantly different from all the other RE synths...

Re: Ekssperimental Sounds multi-FX bundle
Gotta say, I’ve been trying to rein in the GAS and concentrate on getting the most out of the plug-ins I already own. But I came into a bit of money this year and have treated myself to a few Ekssperimental Sounds REs, they’re so good

Re: Is it really necessary to buy a midi controller?
I haven’t used a midi controller or keyboard for years. Been thinking recently about getting a keyboard so that I can let my fingers wander over the keys and experiment more easily with chords, but it’s not a top priority. I really like working with sequencers and players, sending notes to the Reaso...

Ekssperimental Sounds multi-FX bundle
Halloween sale, in case you missed it... https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/bundle/multi-fx-bundle/ I've been waiting for a deal on Ourobouros and Industrializer! Now here it is, along with Sadist and Filter Chain X8187. Might be even cheaper to wait for Black Friday, but I can't wait. Off now to ma...

Re: What have you been listening to?
Great track! Hadn't heard it before. Chris and Cosey are by far my favourite post-TG incarnation, but I always think of TG as being a bit like the Beatles - very patchy, but their best work is untouchable, and the various aftermath projects never quite measured up. I can never see what all the fuss ...

Re: MusicTech: Niklas Agevik talks Reason
They're not really ambiguous. Most people are just not familiar with high level strategy. 😂 omg no. if multiple people come to different understandings of a simple statement made in an interview, then the statement is ambiguous. that’s the literal definition of the word ambiguous. But this absolute...
