Re: Channel Compressor: how much Auto-Gain?
Yes, and it has only two things to derive it from: Ratio and Threshold. Whether the chosen makeup value will "normalize" some particular signal to 0 dB or to any other level is unknown. True, but it does the best it can to achieve the desired level. The one you're talking about maybe does, its best...

Re: Channel Compressor: how much Auto-Gain?
That normalizing process is what compressor does using a fixed compression curve, completely determined by Ratio, Threshold and Makeup Gain, all three fixed.huggermugger wrote: ↑18 Jun 2022AFAIK, autogain isn't a specific amount (like +5dB), it's a normalizing process.

Re: Channel Compressor: how much Auto-Gain?
It is very tricky. I once tried to measure it, but failed to find any pattern or logic. That compressor can even change the ratio depending on threshold.

Re: My first spectrum analyzer
Yes I´m talking about two curves simultaneously playing and being displayed with colouring for differences between the two like here in Sculpt. Blue stands for negative and brown for positive changes: Where do those two signals come from that they are so similar? Please don't get me wrong, I'm not ...

Re: Why does the same imported mastered track make the Reason master fader clip - but not the Pro tools master fader?
I just checked R12 and the Master Section indeed clips where it did not before if I remember correctly. Can anybody test the attached Thor patch in R10/R11? Just turn Rotary1 all the way up, it should set DC level of 0dBFS on the output. dc-out.zip I get clipping at 127 on the rotary on BOTH meters...

Re: Kilohearts - Lots of RE for FREE
Just grabbed kHs Tape Stop. Been thinking about it for a long time, but never been up for. Now I've discovered that the spindles in the cassette deck spin in the wrong direction! Everybody knows it should go CCW! (Well, unless you have a bi-dir deck). Have you tried looking at it from behind the mo...

Re: Kilohearts - Lots of RE for FREE
I would be really surprised if the Kilohearts products aren't the most popular REs moving through the RS shop the past 2 days. I mean, we all pretty much know that Kilohearts should be taking up all four spots on this "Popular Now" section, right? "Popular" may not include free ones. And "featured"...

I mean, I think it is too redundant. If you want a CV input/output in the player stack, there is this one player: https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... layer-tap/

Re: My first spectrum analyzer
Yes, multiple inputs/thrus with curve differences being shown in two colours for +- differences, like ADPTR Sculpt does. You mean, multiple live spectrum graphs on the same plot? Is it really of any value? I thought of a spectrogram device, where you could record and store multiple spectrograms and...

Re: Dolby Type A sound
Making such a combinator would be a hard task if you're limited to only the stock devices. There is no invertor, no proper basic filters, no latency compensation.

Re: Dolby Type A sound
Well, besides 3 or 4 filters, there is also a simple compressor, but that doesn't matter much, I mean, it's a crime to offer that for $60

I can't resist offering you a nice tool for true peak normalization : Loudness Normalizer.
You can set the target true peak you like. And it does 8x oversampling.

I don't really have no one to talk to about graphical user interface these days. And if I make one, I don't care what it is called. These days.

My first spectrum analyzer
It's not a finished work, just a show off of what I've been working on in the last two weeks. It is meant to be a part of a more complex device. The range is 6Hz to 96kHz. I always wanted to see what's beyond the audible range. The resolution is 2x that of Reason's SA. First I tried to make it evenl...

Re: Who in the hell calls a GUI a "Gooey"?!
We call it [gu'i:], or even ['gui] in Russian. Yes, it sounds silly and indecent in the latter version (it resembles one obscene word), but you can't help it.

Re: Why does the same imported mastered track make the Reason master fader clip - but not the Pro tools master fader?
Orthodox - interesting point, I hadn't realised that the mastered file is 96/24 - but it doesn't seem to have had any effect on the clipping; I changed session to 96khz (don't think I can change bit rate?) and disabled stretch - actually both left and right are now clipping at around 67 bars mark! ...
