Website just went live.
My website just went live and I'm pretty psyched about it. Been grinding on it for a while now. Would love to have some people from here check it out if inclined. Plenty of good music, all made in Reason. You can even buy and download the first volume of my upcoming triple album for $6.00. (each vol...

Re: Post a pic of your studio!
Every once in a while, a musician needs to divert from the main path and make a journey to cleanse the mind and seek the inner musician. So, today my studio is at the sea, travelling to beautiful Poland for inspiration, meditation and music creation. https://s31.postimg.org/bwm6437zf/Composing_at_s...

Re: (80s vibe synthpop)Modern Life In A Shell
Definitely has the 80s vibe going strong. Kind of clever/ironic/something that you did such a retro tune about modern technology. I guess it harkens back to that time when technology was newer and more exciting by being so new and not so prevalent. Remember when walkmans were all the rage? Breakdown...

Re: Electronic/Pop "Rainbows Everywhere" feat. Bitley's WBF
https://youtu.be/IO9uSYtTsac Here's another one. No WBF on this, just another song. This one I like a lot! Wonderful sound, and some great variation on the vocals - love it when the reverbed high pass filtered vocal sections come in. There's scratching here too, but for some reason it doesn't distr...

Re: What's your process when making a tune?
I usually write lyrics separately from anything else. I also write "riffs" on the piano or guitar and save them together as midi data, then go back and combine a set of lyrics with a riff that seems to fit it. Only then do I write melody. From there I go into arrangement with drums and picking sound...

Re: Reason 9 Pitch Corection or Neptune
I find it near impossible to get transparent pitch correction with Neptune, but as Joey said it's okay for some effects. Pitch edit is definitely the way to go for me. I've been using it tons. This is not the only example. Sometimes Neptune sounds very good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdJxuQew...

What I'm really interested in is that piano player in RE form. I'd pay top dollar! He's excellent.

Here's a song I made primarily with WBF sounds. The three main synth sounds (bass and two treble parts heard throughout but heard unobstructed in first verse and intro) come from WBF. Hope you like.

Electronic/Pop: Rainbows Everywhere, Fall Apart, & The Beat Goes On
This is a song I wrote when gay marriage was legalized in the U.S. It features Bitley's WBF refill. The three primary synths (heard throughout but heard unobstructed in the first verse) are all from WBF. One bass and two treble parts. Hope you like. Comments welcome/appreciated. https://youtu.be/Q8r...

Re: Does anyone here produce using only headphones?
I work mainly with headphones but always check with studio monitors. The main difference for me is that levels need to be much more precise with monitors. With headphones you can usually hear everything even if it's badly mixed. Monitors gives a better idea of what an accurate mix is.

Re: So what REs do you use on your master bus?
my two cents a good mix doesn't need mastering, the mastering thing is to make an full album, if I'm going to fix something I fix in the mix. the mastering thing is something from the old tape recorder days maybe I'm wrong, but that's my opinion. :) To be honest, I've always been a bit baffled by m...

Re: Studio monitor speaker recommendations?
I've got a pair of HS8s and they work great for me. Clear and transparent. Can't compare them to others but I did a lot of online research and read a lot of opinions before I bought them and in my price range, they seemed like the best bet. If you're ready to spend 1000 pounds you could get the sub ...

Re: Vocoder?
Haha that's my singing voice and it's not great. That's why I usually stick to vocoder! Lol To use Bitspeek as a vocoder, create a track for it. Turn KBD Mode on and turn the Tracking to 0% (or to taste; I keep it at 0%). I typically turn the noise to -100% and bring it in a little bit where needed...

Re: Vocoder?
I am the expert of nothing! Lol Unfortunately I don't have any work online using Reason's vocoders (and nothing recent). Here's some stuff that is 10 years old using a WarpFactory Vocoder. These both use trombones and trumpets as the source from a Yamaha DJX! :D I found I liked the sound of those s...

Re: (Indie-Fusion) "Remember Me" music video
Interesting! Cool track. Some of those deep breaths are a little much... I'd maybe automate the volume down on those a bit. I agree about the breaths. The vocal needs to be cleaned up significantly on this. A few moments of wavering pitch and a few moments of unsupported notes that I can improve on...

Great! The music blends with the lyrics and artwork, creating an emotional unity. I like it all and I like this format. I'm not good at interpreting lyrics/poetry, and I struggle a bit with the language, but here are my impressions about part of the lyrics: "The spoils of mortal coils will vary Eve...

Cool song. I particularly like the portamentoey synthy sound in the stampede section. Cool ending as well.
