Some mastering engineers are still trying to make a track sound as loud as possible. They still believe we’re in a war, the loudness war. Well, guess what?

Just want to point out that in my experience it's never been the mastering engineers leading the charge - they are simply following "orders".Marco Raaphorst wrote:Some mastering engineers are still trying to make a track sound as loud as possible. I recon anyone in the music world to say: nope won't do that. Resist.
I hate that with all my heart. Everything is so pumped up that it turns into a mush of noise. I worked as a techie on the radio and I couldn't stand listening to that crap any more so I had monitoring turned down as much as possible. On top of it all, everything goes through an extra compressor before sending it out to the world.

I have always hated loud mastering. It just doesn't make sense. It didn't back then, but nowadays still people are slamming a brickwall to a 2-track mix.Wook wrote:I hate that with all my heart.
