Alrighty, l've just opened a Soundcloud account (my first that l actually remember, l think l opened one about 8 years ago too). I have followers. I have likes. Are they real people? They seem busy promoting things. Fake likes and fairweather friends that just want to promo themselves are depressing.

Here is my horde:
How do l know which ones genuinely like my style? If they genuinely like me then l'm genuinely pleased and l appreciate it.


Perhaps a fake follower = Following many hundreds of people but being followed by a fraction of that number (i.e. they randomly follow many people, hoping to be followed back)? Especially when they have only about 1 song?

I've lost faith entirely in Soundcloud. Sure they catch & delete the whores/scammers but it's becoming like Craigslist. Have you tried selling on there? 99% of my responses are scammers and whores. Same thing is happening on SC. I've also gotten messages on SC like "oh I really love your music and we'd like to interview and sign you", yet I have no recent plays... sounds like a scam and a half to me. It's a cryin shame ='(

It's a shame if SC becomes more like this. Similarly, some time ago I created an account on Reverb Nation ... I got a few followers in a short space of time but there had been no plays. Who follows an artist without listening to their music? I dismissed the whole site as BS and closed my account.

Don't know really, just read here and there, but it would be sad if they had to shut down. Actually i like what they did with this platform.

I googled and read a couple articles, they are having some money issues. The amounts of money are sickening. They've never profited since starting.
Not sure how they're ever going to make money without plastering ads everywhere.

I like the platform also. I bet DAW and plug-in makers love it. Everyone is a producer! Distribution is free, creation not.

OP says so-and-so are leaving, where are they going? Is there something better for free with that many users?

Maybe SC can use the Cloudies to their benefit! I'm thinking a music/dating/sex/collaboration site. SC collects a fee for hooking up couples that want to "collaborate" on a project.

Or a music production for pornwebcam video production hookup. Webcam Cloudies pay producers for music accompaniment. SC gets a cut of each deal. Like a musical eBay for Cloudies.
