Hi, I was hoping to get some input on good but reasonably priced drum pad controllers. I have had Reason for years but am just now trying to learn how to use it. I have Reason 8. I searched a bit on this site and the Akai MPD218 seems to be fairly popular. Are there other brands and models that are recommended? As I mentioned I am very new to actually using Reason so I don't need a controller with tons of bells and whistles. Thanks for any help.

The one with imho the best Reason remote codec is the Livid Base.

As a padkontrol/mpd18/mpd218/nanopad user, can't go wrong with anything. They all built like tanks.
If you wanna control stuff I recommend just doing some research over here.

Thanks for the suggestions/confirmation. I think I will pick up the mpd218 and give it a try.

You have (had) all four?
Can I ask your feedback in terms of
- Pads sensitiveness (I read several times that MPD ones were too hard, and Korg ones had good sensitivity)
- Pad size - which one has the bigger pads, or the size difference is too subtle to notice?
Thanks

I use 4 pads yes.
padkontrol and mpd218 have the same sensitivity but akai is known for their thick ass mpc pads.
Mpd18 is pretty sensitive too but it's clearly for standing people.

Nanopad's a tablet accessory.
