I just watched the Loopop video on lunch. I want to like this, as I've been eying a Digitone and Digitakt for some time, but.. meh... I already have an MPC Live II and a Force, so I really don't need yet another groovebox (especially one aimed at drums/percussion). That said, if I were to grab any Elektron today, this would be at the top of my list.

I have the Digitakt, and I'm now thinking about this one
Ordered one! This'll be my first Elektron box. Depending on how I like it, I could see myself snagging a Digitakt down the road, too.

Man... $1000 USD for the Syntakt. I'm out - there's no way I can spend that kind of money on something that essentially amounts to a drum synth with limited multitimbral voices. For $200 USD more, you can get an Akai Force, or for $200 less, an Akai MPC One, which is arguably far more powerful/useful IMHO.

Does depend on what you want a piece of kit like this for, I think.
One could say you could get a laptop or an ipad and do wayyyyy more, too!
If I want unlimited polyphony, in depth sample editing/slicing, the bajillion soft synths/plugins that I have... I'll just use the PC.
It may be that I won't like it and it won't be for me, but I've been wanting to get out of my comfort zone and try out an Elektron box for a while and this seemed like a fun instrument.

Do let us know how you roll with it. The Digitakt is such an inspiration machine, this one is probably even more so!

*sigh*
Ok, BoBeats has me 70% sold. I can’t believe I’m considering dropping a grand on this thing when I already have an MPC and Force. I hate myself.

I recently got a 2nd hand Digitakt but sample browsing kills my workflow so I really want the Syntakt. It's like a mash up of the model:cycles and the Analog Rytm.
To me this looks like the best laptop Groovebox out there. I get what people are saying about the features of the Mpc one and Force but for me the workflow was tedious. I hope they get UK stock soon. Time to do some selling and free up some funds!

I get what you are saying. I was forced to get very well organised with my samples on the DT. Now it's a breeze.Synthopathe wrote: ↑22 Apr 2022I recently got a 2nd hand Digitakt but sample browsing kills my workflow so I really want the Syntakt. I get that MPC workflow is an acquired taste, but it seems an order of magnitude easier to grasp than Elektron workflow IMHO. And Force is about as simple as they come - it’s Ableton Live clip & session. Not sure how anyone could think Elektrons abstract workflow and menu diving is any easier.

I can tell you the "elEktRoN wOrkFloW" isn't anywhere complicated at all. It's extremely simple and quick ♂️EnochLight wrote: ↑22 Apr 2022I get that MPC workflow is an acquired taste, but it seems an order of magnitude easier to grasp than Elektron workflow IMHO. I hear you. I guess I'm just going by the myriad of videos I've watched on the Digitakt and Digitone. I did the same with the MPC before I bought my first one, and when I opened the box I already knew the basics. Guess I need to spend a bit more time watching Elektron workflow videos if I go down that route (still not 100% sold on dropping $1000 USD on another groovebox for my setup, as I'd mostly use it as just a sound module). But the sounds BoBeats was demo'ing... that's totally my wheelhouse. So tempting!PhillipOrdonez wrote: ↑22 Apr 2022I can tell you the "elEktRoN wOrkFloW" isn't anywhere complicated at all. I'm not ragging on the MPC workflow, I personally just found the touchscreen a bit finicky. I probably would have been interested in the Force if it wasn't so big.
And yes, Philip, I could definitely do with condensing/prioritising my sample collection for the Digitakt. Maybe I'll get some time to do that because it's probably not a good time to be selling one.

You're right, it is probably not a good time to sell the DT. I was thinking of selling it but I don't think I will. I would miss it for sample playback given the Syntakt doesn't support that.Synthopathe wrote: ↑22 Apr 2022I'm not ragging on the MPC workflow, I personally just found the touchscreen a bit finicky. Check cuckoo's digitakt mega tutorial, all the basics are covered there. Another good to check for the workflow would be Dave Mech. The workflow is not complicated at all, you develop muscle memory tooEnochLight wrote: ↑22 Apr 2022I hear you. This is the great thing about the Model:Cycles as well. You don't have the "I can't find the right sample" excuse to procrastinate. There's knobs, and there's no one to blame but yourself if you don't turn them. I think the fact that the Syntakt basically requires you to be part of the sound shaping process is going to be a major factor in this new machine's success. I bought the Korg Wavestate for a "jack of all trades" hardware synth, and I think the Syntakt really fills this role for people in the market for a drum synth.Synthopathe wrote: ↑22 Apr 2022I recently got a 2nd hand Digitakt but sample browsing kills my workflow so I really want the Syntakt. I completely agree. It looks like it's going to be so much fun, just like the model:cycles.OverneathTheSkyBridg wrote: ↑22 Apr 2022This is the great thing about the Model:Cycles as well. I have a Digitakt, and I can also attest that the terrifying Elektron workflow is actually not terrifying and is very nice.
Of the three -takt format boxes, the Syntakt actually looks like my least favourite so far, based on the videos I've watched. At the very least, I'd want a Digitakt beside it.
