The answer is one. Or one more if you already own any:

A snip at a mere $500 or thereabouts.

I do actually think that's the one to get. I've got a couple and was waiting on Joe at JDM to finish an analogue delay he's working on but that Boss looks like a cracker. I just recently (like a week ago) got over my irrational dislike of Boss pedals when I got my DC-2w.
That said, I'm not sure you can get more functions on a delay than what's on a TC Flashback 2.

I doubt I need more than my EHX DMM 1100-TT. But another one can't hurt......

A while ago, I sold my EHX Memory Boy. I use a Zoom CDR 70 now, which is more convenient in terms of being programmable and tap tempo. Beside being better or not, I do not use much delay anyway……

But this Boss gives me gas!!!

This is an instabuy if you have the cash. Has 8 bucket brigade chips inside, the digital control is a gamechanger and nothing that's out now comes close. I think this will be a classic. I resisted getting the new SDE 3000D but I copped the actual rack unit from Japan on ebay for a steal- works perfect! Can't wait for the DM 101 to ship.

That's beautiful. I just picked up the Boss RPS 10, and RDD20 on the same GAS binge as my SDE3000D purchase. Also grabbed a DD-20 for good measure.

The DM-101 looks awesome and may be the delay to rule them all but it’ll definitely be over €500 and that’s way too much for me. That’s the only reason I didn’t buy a Strymon reverb…well, that and the labyrinth of submenus.

I like the Keeley Eccos a lot. It is small and it echos.

At least these new Boss pedals (the new Tape Echo and this) look like actual pedals and not two juiceboxes next to eachother like the "twin pedal" series. Even though they sounded good, they were not inspiring to look at.

Those TC Flashback delays are solid. I once had the X3 and the regular sized single pedal. Would have kept the X3 if it weren't for the size.

Boss has always delivered reliable delay pedals. I still have a DD20 that I'd sub for any of my other delays. Funny that I'm reading this thread after I was just searching around for a mini delay pedal. You'd think between the DD20, Empress Super Delay, Empress Tape Delay, EQD dispatch master and EQD Disaster Transport that I'd have plenty to pick from. I guess this thread is for me. Off to check out this new Boss delay...

funny enough, I could probably do with fewer delays. most of my band's (and my own) arrangements are too busy, to the point where I find delay is either not necessary, or in some cases detrimental. I used to use a Vox DelayLab on my pedalboard, which was freaking fantastic, but now do most of my processing in the box, so if I'm using a delay live at all, it's probably like an Ableton delay or possibly Echo from Reason.

I was just playing with my Delay... on my Fender modeling amp. Came up with a fantastic sound!
It has two settings, little delay, LOTs delay.

I turned the volume to about 3 1/2, delay amount maxed out, hit a chord and immediately damped it with my strumming hand and WOW!
Now I know how Alex Lifeson got that fabulous echo sound on one of their songs, the name of which runs away from my memory.

I thought I was done with buying pedals, .... huh.

That fabulous echo was on 2112 - Overture? Temple of Syrinx? I think so...

Sorry, I read all posts, but could not found out which Echo/Delay was used on 2112..... One of my favorite albums by Rush, and surely the first album I heard by Rush. That era was beautiful for Rush albums, and from the later albums I liked Counterparts best. The song Animate is loved by me for it's unbelievable bassparts.

Being a bassplayer myself, I was and am intrigued by Geddy Lee.
