Hi,
It is known that the Propellerhead Balance audio card can have problems when used on a usb 3 port.
How many of you are using Balance on usb3 without a problem ?
Balance versus USB 3 ?

On Windows 7, USB 3 and Balance doesn't work the vast majority of the time. In Windows 8, however, I find that Balance usually works (YMMV). That said, I stick to my USB 2.0 ports since that's what it was manufactured to support.Bonkhead wrote:Hi,

Let a Propellerhead himself explain it best:

I've had Balance working on USB3 on Windows 8 without any issue whatsoever. Unfortunately, under Windows 7 I had zero success.

Windows 7 doesn't support USB 3.0; you need Windows 8 for native support. If it's a brand new laptop, you should get Windows 10 free - which drops tomorrow. Windows 10 also supports USB 3.0, and Balance works fine on Windows 10 (at least it does on my machine).Bigsby wrote:I'm having this Win7/USB 3.0 issue with Balance. It's a brand new HP laptop. I'm going to try to turn off USB 3.0 in the BIOS tonight. Other than that, or upgrading Windows, anyone have a solution?
Other than that, isn't there a USB 2.0 port on your laptop?

Get a second hard drive for it. That's what I did!Bigsby wrote:It's a work laptop. They allow us to install stuff for personal use, but we'll be stuck on Win7 for a while. I turned off USB3.0 in the BIOS and it works fine now. No dedicated USB 2.0 ports.

Wrong.Windows 7 does not have built-in USB 3.0 support but after you install official drivers from manufacturer's site they work fine.EnochLight wrote:Windows 7 doesn't support USB 3.0; you need Windows 8 for native support. Actually, not everything is fine. To be clear, we are talking about USB 3.0 and Balance on Windows 7. Many 3rd party USB 3.0 drivers simply work like shit on Windows 7, as they are efforts made by individual hardware manufacturers and consultants thereof. In other words, YMMV. Propellerhead themselves have gone on record stating that Balance won't work on USB 3.0 and Windows 7 for this very reason.kitekrazy wrote:Wrong.Windows 7 does not have built-in USB 3.0 support but after you install official drivers from manufacturer's site they work fine.EnochLight wrote:Windows 7 doesn't support USB 3.0; you need Windows 8 for native support. That said, great to see you got yours to work on USB 3.0 and Windows 7, though! There are always "exceptions to the rule".
