Does anyone still use Orkester?
Was just messing around in Reason browsing away looking for sounds and suddenly struck me that I still have the Orkester refill! I haven't been in there for years and totally forgot it existed!!
Just wondering how often others blow the dust off it and open it up? There are actually some really great patches in there

I use it very often along with Miroslav and Euphonic.
I never use anything from the reason library unless I can make it sound so different you don't recognise the original material.

I've used it quite a bit over the years! It's very basic by current-day standards (no round robin samples or much in the way of velocity mapping, etc.) but you can still get solid results out of it if you use it well.

Generally I only use my own recordings but if I use any Reason stock stuff it's always Orkester for raw samples to be processed. There's some good stuff in there.

Absolutely the same as you. And VSL in addition.

Yes! In 2016 I decree that all orchestral string patches require basic velocity switching of more than two layers, at least three or four, and most importantly round-robin for spicatto and staccato patches. You just simply cannot create any sort of convincing driving staccato 16th note pattern with the constant machine gun effect of just one sample being repeated over and over.esselfortium wrote: It's very basic by current-day standards (no round robin samples or much in the way of velocity mapping, etc.)
But to answer the original question, yes absolutely I use them. They are old but still very usable.
As Selig mentioned, mallet instruments like xylophone and marimba, which are some of my favorite instruments in reason and in real life, are great.
Same here!Ostermilk wrote:I recently had to re-create a 60's tv theme vibe for a project and Orkester was perfect for it.
I don't know about using it for orchestral pieces but for retro sounding pop arrangements it is my goto.
String legato in the chorus paid for my Cadillac XLR man toy.
Funny I ended up using some string combination patches last night/today. Works great as a layer with the ID8 strings.
I still have the Orkester refill from Reason 2.0, so I thought I'd try to load it in 11 Intro. Unfortunately the browser doesn't show its contents. I know Intro can only open Intro and Lite song files, but how about refills? Are some refills restricted to the full version of Reason perhaps?

I don't think 11 Intro contains the entire Reason sound banks.diminished wrote: ↑26 Jan 2021Afaik the Orkester soundbank is fully included in Reason's current soundbanks.Lotuz2019 wrote: ↑26 Jan 2021I still have the Orkester refill from Reason 2.0, so I thought I'd try to load it in 11 Intro.
