Reason updates (11.3.7 / 11.3.8) and Reason+
if it is some kind of subscription, there are only two scenarios where I’d actually consider opting in—if it allows for seamless collaboration without the need to bounce or coordinate with the other collaborator—OR if it’s a major point update with some really major new features, and there’s no straight purchase option.
that said, at this point we don’t have any real idea whether it actually is some kind of subscription. could be likely, but until the announcement we have nothing truly concrete.

and if it is a collaboration tool, I’ll be really curious how they’ll handle VSTs.
Subscription is my guess too. Reason+ is not a very imaginative name in that case, Disney, Apple...everything is plus now. I guess the + in these services iis because you pay extra lol

I'm willing to bet my RE licenses ( lol ) that it's NOT about on-line collaboration, because Reason's architcture is the last one that would work in such a paradigm. I can't really see 2+ people working simultaneously in Rack or Sequencer, because that would very quickly end up with a total mess. My own projects get uwieldy at 10+ tracks despite my best efforts.
As I said, it's a Presonus Sphere-like subscription service.

Maybe its virtual in VR as we just have seen from Korg (i think).antic604 wrote: ↑26 Jan 2021I'm willing to bet my RE licenses ( lol ) that it's NOT about on-line collaboration, because Reason's architcture is the last one that would work in such a paradigm. I agree if it’s for collaboration it probably isn’t online collaboration. I don’t think that would even be all that appealing, considering latency and other concerns (conflict handling in real-time has got to be a huge, if not impossible hurdle for something as time-sensitive as music, for example).
the ability to pass files back and forth without the headache of dealing with the other person having different plugins would in and of itself, be a huge win.

Companion = internal rewire between projects? lol
Reason+ - is a subscription service for infinite updates etc, bringing all subscribers (probably most users) up to a standard version.
And - some other features that are nowhere near the top of the most requested features
Companion - is a hosted service that will allow collaboration through a web based daw that is not restricted by Reason or Rack Extension licence that can then be reopened in Reason.

Just spotted this:-
Reason+ Livestream
Some folks have already noticed some mention of the "Reason+ and Companion" in the latest Reason 11.3.7 that just came out. What could that be? Well we have a lot to say about that, so much in fact that we'll be livestreaming a special Reason+ Livestream this Wednesday.
Our host Ryan Harlin is joined by Niklas Agevik (CEO), Timothy Self (CXO), James Pember (Head of Services) and Mattias Häggström Gerdt (Product Manager). Join our Livestream to hear the backstory and see Reason+ in action!
Tune in and hang out with us on January 27 at 10 am PST / 19:00 CET.
Guessing Services is going to be on the agenda!
