I think it's unfortunate a software company would choose a name already used by another software company for over 20 years.
I can understand reusing a name in different industries. But within the same industry? Or is software too broad of an industry? Is the world too big?

And they have a very similar font. Although I'm no typographer. Just looks very similar.

Sorry if I'm late to this party. Looks like they've been around for at least a couple years?

It's interesting that they have some of the vibe of the ones that make my favorite music making software. Then again, bad name research on their end.

I came across these videos and thought of posting them as Propellerhead (Reason) hype videos as a joke. Without context, I'm sure many ReasonTalk users would be very confused lol. Until you realize that you see no familiar faces or hear familiar voices; you might not know what's going on. The name and font do it.

And, "When the heck are you going to update the Rack Extension SDK?"
Who knows, maybe they would :P

I feel like I'm watching a trailer to an epic movie about alternate universes. And this is the Ernst's evil arch nemesis in a parallel universe who he must travel through space and time to defeat. There can only be one.

That's a URL. The company name is Propellerhead (singular). And they also have www.propellerhead.se (which forwards to propellerheads.se)

These guys have been around for years, probably 1% of the population has ever heard of the DAW company, and propellerhead is a commonly used term in NZ for a tech geek.

Well propellerhead is a commonly used term for tech geek in many places.

That's interesting though. I only just stumbled across them. Propellerhead AB is certainly more popular, unless you are simply saying that they aren't popular enough... When was the other company founded?

I just looked up the NZ companies register - they started in November 1996.

Propellerhead AB was founded in 1994 so not much in it.

The info I had just found said 2002. But either way, I guess it's been a minute...

BTW, I've always heard the reason the web site has a "s" on the end was an oversight by the person who registered it. The more you know… ;)

Interviewer: Let's start with a dumb question - Is the name of the company "Propellerhead" or "Propellerheads?"

Ernst: Propellerhead. That was my mistake, to put an 's' in the web address, in 1999. I've been hearing about it ever since. But the name of the company is Propellerhead Software actually.

But then at some point they decided to keep it. Because they do own www.propellerhead.se as well and it's forwards. Whereas, they could have the other forward just the same.

This is nothing new, there have been various companies around the called propellerhead, propellerheads or propellerhead software for years now, or even used it as a band name.

EG this - since 1995
