Hi All,
is anyone experienced with using the H2 as USB-Mike?
I tried using it with my laptop while travelling, but it doesn't work as expected.
I can listen to my Reasonsongs via H2, but I can't record, because Reason doesn't recognize inputs.
I thought that it can't be a question of driver, cause I'm able to listen to all that I am doing in Reason, but...?
Any ideas?

I have a Zoom H4n. To connect with computer to use mic, I press MENU on the Zoom >> USB >> Audio I/F >> Connect
Reason recognizes the Zoom and you monitor through the Zoom as well
This is on a Mac. If you are on Windows, you may need to download a driver.

Same here. I use a Zoom H5 and it works this way. I'm also on Mac.stratatonic wrote:I have a Zoom H4n. To connect with computer to use mic, I press MENU on the Zoom >> USB >> Audio I/F >> Connect

And USB mics are... handyOquasec wrote:Usb interfaces however, are dandy.
And things like the H4n, H5, H6, etc. also act as audio interfaces with combo XLR+1/4" inputs.
This was not known. This would mean they are 200-400$ because they are portable audio interfaces with built in asio drivers or can be used like an audio interface?
If so those will be researched and I will get my grubby hands on the highest model they have for my own personal reasons.

They're excellent. I upgraded from an H4n to the H5 for the interchangeable capsules and slightly better preamps. Does the job for meOquasec wrote:This was not known. There's also the F4 and F8 as well which are both field recorders and act as interfaces.
Interesting. do they have internal loopback and would those be an upgrade from a ur22 mk1?
I have to say that is a veyr interesting specsheet for a foley recorder... So there is more to those than mic SQ then.
Pretty hype about what I just read tbh lollolololo

Thank You,
problem solved by latest driver.
All works fine now.
It's a nice solution for mobile composing and recording.
My very old H2 works as microphone and soundcard.
More than good enough for holidayfun.
I am happy with that way of working outside my "studio".
I think, that You'll be able to get professional results with the latest Zooms,
like Joey said before.

Glad you're up and running.
All these years and I have NEVER noticed the word "Handy" on the Zoom recorders...joeyluck wrote:And USB mics are... handyOquasec wrote:Usb interfaces however, are dandy.
The only reason I don't have that is because I already have years old 2i2/ur22 both hooked up to my pc with shure beta 91a.
This is why getting one of them is such a difficult choices outside of portability
But that is definitely...something to consider later down the line...
