Sure it does. Was one of the first things that crossed my mind when PH announced that it's gonna a free update to 9.5.craste wrote:Makes you think doesn't it?
According to this, they must have some pretty awesome stuff up their sleeve for R10.
The question is - Who cares
Hopefully a waveform editor and some updated versions of the combinator and other long time Rack units?

So with the Reason world completely reinvigorated with the announcement of 9.5 I started thinking what could PH possibly have in store for 10. I think adding the new browser in 8, new players and pitch edit in 9, updated SDK for RE developers in 9.2, and then VST access in 9.5 only leaves PH with a few functions left to truly overtake the Abletons of the world. Instruments are no longer something PH will concern themselves with so we can forget about a new instrument. My prediction is we will see a vastly updated Sequencer. Its probably the one area they havent touched in a long time. Theyve added small features here and there but I see a whole new sequencer coming. Its the only thing left besides video. I also see the freeze track feature, additional players, and maybe a MK2 of another classic device as being the totality of the Reason 10 update. What do you guys think?
Why not a new instrument ? Something that is a MUST HAVE for people new to Reason to have to buy. Maybe a new synth thats built with the help of Xfer Records, Output, Izotope? Something crazy and killer exclusively for Reason. Something that they make become the new Massive or Sylenth which people instantly want. You can charge ALOT more for a DAW then a single instrument so perhaps that might be in the works.
MKII versions of the existing devices would be awesome. Though I also like how they work as is. Simple and to the point. Maybe upgrade the pitch edit to handle polyphonic material. That would be insane. Also update their audio to midi convertors. Similar to what Ableton offers. So many possibilities but we won't ever have to read about VST being the main feature request again.

@rexbrewer They're done with instruments bro. This was established when RE came out. The only instruments they made since then were Parsec and PX7 and they both were sold separately. Added VSTi just doubles down that they will not be adding new instruments with updates anymore.

And Radical Piano and Radical Keys and the A-list series, gosh they've hardly released any instruments.JerrelTheKing wrote:@rexbrewer They're done with instruments bro. Well, PH has done many good things for Reason lately: Graphic Pitch Corrector, Players, Convolution Reverb, Delay Compensation and VST. But there is still a lot to be done.
1. Improve the Sequencer.
2. Higher Resolution Graphic.
3. Track Folders
4. Kong Using Regular Size Device.
5. Native devices MKII
6. Video

Oh yeah those were for sale as well. We're talking about instruments included with updates. Keep up.platzangst wrote:And Radical Piano and Radical Keys and the A-list series, gosh they've hardly released any instruments.JerrelTheKing wrote:@rexbrewer They're done with instruments bro. This would be nice. My perspective is that they're now in prime position to take on these type of upgrades at this point.mguh22 wrote:Clip based composition like Ableton and Bitwig.

So long as it isn't subscriptions then I'm good with anything.
I'd really like to see track and mixer groups and subgroups, it just makes it so much easier to maintain and organize a larger project, especially if you can also freeze groups. I'd also love to see better "blocks" handling, something more similar to how Studio 1 handles this.

Just the 2-3 things that comes in my mind. btw I send that want-list to PH 2 days ago. I hope at least 4-5 features will covered... [emoji11]Electric-Metal wrote:I love when people know exactly what they want [emoji38] [emoji106]:Karim wrote:

mmm .. both I think. More or less what happens to a wav or an mp3 when is putted on the time line. It's perfectly sit in the grid at the tempo project (I can't express better without google transl. at the moment [emoji21]). Ableton live/Bitwig has those capabilities .Alkua wrote:What is that? Yeah you or the other poster is talking about fit to tempo (from FL Studio) / Tempo Detect and Audiowarp. With these 3 options working together, Reason could automatically detect the tempo of an imported audio clip and either fit the tempo of the track to the tempo of that audio, or make the tempo of the audio fit the tempo of the track and using audiowarp it won't go chipmunky or very deep (Barry Whitey I call it lol!).Karim wrote:mmm .. both I think. An NN-XT 2 would be a good follow on for this and it could make use of these features in the update. It could have a graphic enhancement to start with (make it look incredible Props hehe!), automapping of non-tonal samples to individual key zones, re-synthesis like on Harmor, and a sample editor contained within the new NN-XT (working outside of the Tools window one) and you could use the audiowarp, tempo detect and fit to tempo within the sample editor to sync with the track and not alter, but obviously you don't have to use those, either or and also more chopping / cutting of audio options like Slicex or Edison and the ability to add markers to various points and then trigger the markers in various ways and orders) then an FX section (Chorus, delay, reverb, flanging, phasing and distortion) would complete the NN-XT 2 nicely.
I think a Combinator 2 might be on the cards myself, just a hunch,
I think core workflow and functionality needs sorting on reason, there's too many to mention here, have about 30 for the sequencer, rack, main mixer and midi editing. To start with EVERYTHING automatable so then the new NN-XT would have all parameters automatable. Sync'ing of Windows and Browsers too and an Undo Events List to name just 4.
