I'm just learning Reason and got a problem with making notes for Arpeggiator. It's too hard to pick the rate (no matter sync of free) and gate length in Arpeggiator needed to play all its notes in sequencer (without changing their length there) smoothly and in one rhythm (without tempo breaking). And in the end it's always not what would fit for current track. Pattern editing and other known tweaks don't help. Is there a way to make Arpeggiator notes in sequencer, placed just one by one, to sound with unbreakable tempo despite their sequencer length?

It sounds like you have a lot of very quick notes in succession in the sequencer if the arpeggiator isn't able to pick them up.

It also sounds like you may not be using the RPG-8 properly. The best way to use it is to feed it one or more long notes at once, maybe a bar or half a bar in length, either singles, duos or in chords. That will give the arpeggiator all the notes you want it to rhythmically play up and down in its arpeggio (with it generating octaves automatically).

If that's not what you want, then it may be that an arpeggiator isn't the right tool for what you're trying to achieve. If that's the case it may be easier if you just draw all your little notes in by hand, one by one, into the sequencer. It's a lot more time-consuming, but it guarantees you get everything playing exactly as you want it.

If you do want arpeggiation, but something more complex than RPG-8 can do, then the newer versions of Reason come with the Dual Arpeggiator Player device.

Good luck!
